Used Music

Do you purchase used music?  I greatly enjoy going to one of my local used record shops to see what I can find.  But, I just started ordering used CD's from Amazon.  Even with shipping, there is great selection and value.

Where do you get your used CD's?  Any great used music websites/stores?

I buy a lot of CDs from ebay now, people seem to buy them rip them and then sell them on (where as I keep mine!) so you can pick up virtually new CDs for just a couple of £'s

I'd say 95% of my purchases are used. I live right down the street from a B&M store that hasn't been affected by the "E" word. They have thousands, and thousands, and thousands of used CD's. Heaven.  :thumb:

For used CDs it's hard to beat the vendors on Amazon. I've bought quite a few and never had a bad experience.

I found quite a few cds (over 100) this past summer at garage sales, craigslist and thrift stores. Average price paid ... about $1.25 per disc.

I bought a ton of used CDs from Amazon.  Never a single problem.  Waiting the couple of days was the hardest part.  Just make sure you factor in the shipping cost into the price.

The vast majority of my 6,000 ps were purchased used. And a lot of the Cds. Most of my classical CDs I bought new years ago. And the  Jazz Cds at least 3/4s purchased new. But Rock CDs the majority were used and dirt cheap.
Most locally, but a few from Amazon.

I'd say about 75% of all CDs and DVDs I own are second hand.
Amazon (USA, UK and DE) is my main supplier, the vendors have almost everything. New CDs I buy often come from Japan, since they sound better. Also the Japanese are not afraid to release new SACDs, a format that seems to be banned in the rest of the world.

I insured them all as new CDs though. It adds up to quite an amount, and most home insurance companies only have a very limited coverage for audio equipment.

I very seldom purchase used CDs anymore as the prices have gone up quite a bit over the last couple of years and also the music genre that I enjoy is sometimes difficult to find used. I mostly purchase new CDs on-line and have noticed that they are more reasonably priced when compared to used.

Be well...
