AV123 X-MTM Tweeter Equivalent?
« on: 2 Oct 2011, 02:23 am »
I just emailed Danny at GR-Research, and will probably order through him.  I just wanted to see if there were other opinions out there.

Back in 2007, I bought a whole set of X-MTM, X-SLS, and X-CS for a 5.1 system (along with HSU research subwoofer, which conveniently was located in Orange County where I live :] ).

I just noticed that the high end frequencies aren't playing from one of my X-MTMs which leads me to believe just the tweeter is bad.  I switched the speaker out with an X-SLS and it played just fine along all frequencies.

Is the tweeter just a standard 1" that I can switch out, or do I have to buy a tweeter directly from Danny?

I couldn't really find any markings on the tweeter, so I'm not really sure.

Here's a link of my X-MTM and the tweeter in question:

Welcome to Audiocircle.  If Danny doesn't have anymore of those tweeters, I know that I have a couple out in the garage.

Hi,

You need to replace the tweeter with correct brand/model because you would have to adjust the xover in both speakers and replace the other one.  From all accounts the speaker sounds very good and its worthwhile replacing it with the correct one.

I dealt with Danny years ago and he's good to deal with and I'm sure he will be able to help you.
