Pure Music and External Hard Drive
« on: 28 Sep 2011, 10:01 pm »
Greetings,
I have a 500MB 2.5 external hard drive filled with FLAC files.  Is there a way to use this with Pure Music without having to drag all the files into the software?

For those that might be interested (and didn't know this already), I was able to drag the entire external portable USB hard drive into the "Add FLAC files" window of Pure Music.  This added pointers to the files, but did not copy the actual files to my MBP.

My initial listening suggests that files on the external hard drive may not sound as good as files directly on the MBP.

Not sure why this might be?  Anybody else experience this?

To answer your questions we would need a little more information, such as which Mac are you using, connection to audio system, and connection to the external drive. If you are using an USB external drive and a USB DAC you may be having some issues, if they share the same controller.

WC,
Thanks for the reply.  I am using a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.8.  Pure Music software.  Halide Design USB to SPDIF converter.  Bryston BDA-1 DAC.
