I don't know that I'd agree with that, but it was a nice game.

Only 4 QB's I would take over Eli:  Brady, Brees, Rodgers, and Peyton

I'll take Eli over Rivers, Rothlesberger, Vick, Schaub, and the rest.

Congrats to all of the BIG BLUE fans out there  :thumb:

My wife was born and mostly raised in Wisconson and up until a couple of years ago my Father-In-Law was GB season ticket holder.
Good thing we get along  :D otherwise  :guns: :flak: :duel:

FWIW I am an Iggles fan, but when they are out of contention my loalties go north to the Giants.

NFC East all the way baby!  :thumb:

Eli doesn't get the credit he deserves.  I agree with your assessment with the possible exception of Rothlesberger.  That guy is a proven winner as well and is extremely durable.  He was dinged up this year but he's a solid QB.

There are some good QB's in the league including Cutler and Stafford but at this stage of the game, Eli has the experience and track record that is hard to fault.  Especially in big games.

Stafford and possibly Cam Newton are a couple more. Cutler is fantastic as well but a douche which could make him hard to play with. Manning is the right qb for a talented team and I suppose in my eyes he just suffers from the fact there are so many really good players at that position right now.

I disagree regarding Cutler being a douche but if I was starting a team today, I'd take Newton over all of the second tier guys (Ben, Stafford, Cutler, etc.), including Eli.  Newton is an amazing athlete and he had a great rookie year.  He is the real deal and I expect him to be in the top tier or close to it...if you can wait another year or so for him to mature.

Cutler has no line, no receivers and had a complete D-BAG offensive coordinator, Martz.  Hopefully the next guy will be better.  Still, the Bears need people who can run routes and catch the ball.  It kills me watching all of these teams with such great receivers making great catches.  The Packers receiver corps looked a lot like the Bears last night.  They couldn't catch or hold on to balls.

Way too soon to put Cutler, Stafford, or Newton in the same class with Eli.

Let's talk in a few years after they show success.

Manning is on a good team. Stafford had a season Eli has never had. Imo if you play the lions or bears, you fear their qb. Not so much with Eli Manning. He isn't going to win too many games himself. Winning games is the goal and the Giants have done just that. They would have with the other qbs mentioned as well.

Winning games is the goal and the Giants have done just that. They would have with the other qbs mentioned as well.

While Eli had about 100 yards less than Stafford and 12 less TD's, he also had 100 less attempts.  Stafford held a slight edge in QB rating (97.2 vs. 92.9), so let's not make it sound like Stafford had a significantly better season than Eli - he didn't.  Let's also not lose sight of the fact that the Giants had the worst running attack in the NFL.  This means other teams were geared up to stop Eli and the passing attack.

Eli absolutely won games by his play!!  He set the league record for the most 4th quarter TD's (15) and led the Giants to 6 comeback victories.  Think that happened by accident?  In fact, Eli elevates his play late in the game (QB rating in the 4th quarter was 110 - only second to Rodgers).  Both Cutler and Stafford actually had lower QB ratings in the 4th quarter!

Now let's look at Eli's stats when it counts most - the 2011 playoffs:

2 wins - 0 losses
121.8 QB rating (only behind Brady)
6 TD's and only 1 INT
67.7 completion percentage

You can think whatever you want, but the facts are what they are...

BTW, Eli has played in 128 straight games (third longest streak by a QB in the history of the NFL)...how about Stafford?  Cutler?

Interesting, as I've been posting all of this mobile I didn't realize his stats were quite so good. I stand by my opinion that his team is of a higher caliber than the Lions and that has to be taken into consideration. The lions running game is not much better (I don't know how it could be, they lost three running backs for the season and a fourth banged up plus the run blocking is typically awful). Stafford played three or more games with a broken index finger on his throwing hand, yet his stats are what they are, he had nine interceptions in three games with that injury. The one interesting point was about Eli bring durable which is necessary and a huge advantage though his better line surely has a lot to do with it. Make no mistake, all are good quarterbacks and I will admit I'm surprised how good his numbers are.

Well, I wish my team had been in it this weekend but it was not to be!  Congratulations to the winners!  I went 4 - 0 this weekend!

MY Superbowl   - San Francisco versus the Patriots

Nice job on the picks. I only got it half right (B'more & New England). Seeing who's left, I think your Super Bowl match up is right. Dang if I know who's going to win...

Haven't read this yet but a quick Google nets this...

Stafford did have a slightly better regular season than Eli.

I think that they both deserve to be in the Pro Bowl.

So Brees and Rogers should stay home?

I'd like to see NY and the Pats in the bowl, but I'm guessing SF will win the NFC (yuck) and I dunno, think Baltimore is on a tear.  They're pretty scary, but I'll pick the Pats cause they got so much offense.

I keep thinking Baltimore will win because there are no penalties being called in the playoffs. But then I think about Gronkowski and how likely he is to be intimidated by Ray Lewis. And who the hell can cover Hernandez? If Brady gets any time at all, he'll shred the B'more secondary. As for the other side, I think Flacco would need the best game of his career to keep up. I notice he didn't come up in the elite QB discussion.

San Francisco wants to be intimidating and I think it worked against N.O. As soon as they saw no flag on that helmet to helmet hit that sent Pierre Thomas to the locker room, they realized they could get away with damn near anything. That is not likely to work against the Giants. In fact, I think the 49ers are going to get mauled.

Well, brother, I bloody well hope so!  I like the Giants and do not like the niners.  I'm a former Dallas fan in case you couldn't tell.

That hit was legal as explained here:
