It's really hard to see anyone in the NFC stopping the Pack.  That's just a strong, disciplined team.

New Orleans will have more than a fighting chance against Green Bay.

In any other year, Brees would be the MVP and New Orleans would be the favorite to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.

It's not like they are blowing teams out and playing great defense.  They are squeeking by teams and giving up lots of points.  Fortunately for the Pack, they are winning these games!

While it looks like the Pack is destined to come out of the NFC this year, I would not totally count New Orleans out, although, if both teams make it to the NFC championship game they would have to win IN Green Bay.  Not easy for a dome team to do in winter!  My dark-horse is the 49'ers!  They are playing solid football and might sneak up on some teams in the playoffs this year.  I'd like to see them play the Packers for a chance to go to the Superbowl.

The AFC is interesting but I have a hard time deciding if it will be the Pats, Steelers or Ravens...or these teams will be Tebowed and fall like so many teams have fallen!  HIGHLY unlikely but I'm loving the run Tebow and the Broncos are having.  They should beat the pathetic Bears next week and have a good shot at winning 3 of their remaining 4 games.  That would put them at 10-6 and give them the division.  Aside from the Patriots, the Broncos have an easy schedule the rest of the way.  I still can't pick them against any of  the division leaders in a head to head match-up, and don't realistically think they have a chance to go far in the post season, but  if I was an opposing team, the last thing I'd want to see is the ball in Tebow's hands with the game on the line in the 4th quarter.  The guy is a winner and has proven many people wrong, including me.  Still trying to figure out how he's doing it, but having a blast watching.

The saints can't stop anyone defensively...green bay has some players on defense although as a unit they aren't amazing.

I love the Packers but man the defense is giving up way too many big plays this year. How many big throws did Manning have yesterday....too many if you ask me.

A great game would be a repeat of the 1st game Packers/Saints to decide who goes to the superbowl.

Lions and Bears seem to be falling off the playoff grid...bears injuries....lions  + penalties (11 penalties for 107 yards yesterday) = losing.

Like mentioned above the AFC teams seem to be the pats/ravens/steelers and it seems like the Pats have been on a role lately.

And Green Bay can?

The Giants pretty much moved the ball at will and scored 35 points yesterday.

When Green Bay stops getting the timely turnovers, their winning streak will come to an end.

That is another key thing that keeps the packers in games - turnovers.

Big win by the Giants in Dallas last night.   :thumb:

They now control their own destiny and will win the NFC East by winning their last three games.

While I don't have delusions about them being as good as Green Bay or New Orleans, I think the Giants have shown that they can be a very dangerous team and anything can happen come playoff time.

As for the Denver Tebows...simply amazing!!

How crazy was yesterday?  Seemed like half or even more than half of the games played game down to the final drive.  Very exciting and action packed!!

I agree George, crazy weekend of games and crazy year!  I'm going to the Giants game next week with customers.  Should be fun!

They should handle the Skins but Sexy Rexy played well. Go Giants!

Remember last year the Packers just squeezed into the playoffs and looked what happened in the playoffs....anything is possible and on any given Sunday any team can beat another. I was hoping for the skins to beat the Pats, vikings to beat the lions all last minute drives like you mentioned. I am not sure why I didn't finish watching the giants/cowboys game but I missed an ending.

The Reffs gifted that game to the Lions.  Since when is yanking a quarterback sideways by the facemask not a penalty?

It was so obvious, I'm still trying to figure out how they missed the call when Levy yanked Joe Webb's facemask at the end of the game.  That chippy stuff must be part of the Detroit playbook because more of their players seem to do it than any other team.  I guess it was just "incidental" like kicking a player laying on the ground as Suh did against the Packers.

Either way, they could barely handle a BAD Viqueens team  - with a BAD third-string QB - on their home field.  Pathetic...

Detroit is a team of punks and dirty players.  The only people hoping for a Detroit playoff birth more than the Lioins' fans is the team they will have to face.  Detroit in the first round will be a gift to any opposing teams, although not as big a gift as the refs gave them at the end of yesterday's game.

Good luck! :thumb:

You are overstating this rather dramatically.   If you watched the game, you would realize that there was a whole heap of blown calls, most of which went against Detroit.  There were several face mask and horse collar tackles (mostly by the Vikings) that were missed.  A lot of people will tell you that it could have been a makeup non call.

Your constant over the top hype takes away from your credibility.  Detroit is no more dirty than the Ravens, Steelers, 49ers, and several other teams.

You are crying more than your avatar.  Move on.

That's very true, there were quite a few major missed calls vs. the Vikings. The Lions' reputation is fun to talk about for folks who aren't fans of the team, but as someone who watches them week in and week out, they are no more dirty than any other team. Let's face it, people love Tim Tebow because of his good guy image moreso than his football ability. When Suh had a few aggressive plays called against him, it's a story to make him into a villain (plus he's a defensive player, the aggressor anyways).  The last facemask was incidental trying to tackle an elusive player.

Most teams would love to have 'dirty' players on their teams like Suh, Fairley, Levy, Vanden Bosch or Avril. Just like most teams would love to have Ray Lewis, Urlacher, or the countless other aggressive football players.

Jackman, clearly you're speaking out of your rear...you're insulting an entire Lions team you've probably not watched much based on your posts. You don't realize how often facemasks occur on most teams called and uncalled. Joe Webb played fairly well, in fact, had the longest rush of the season for the Vikings. His energetic play was the only reason the Vikings had a chance. It's also sort of difficult to label a team dirty that was without so many of its starters. Delmas, Houston, Suh, Fairley, and Justin Durant were out. Those are the most aggressive players on the team. Perhaps actually watching the game...seeing both horse collar tackles that Minnesota had, the facemasks that were missed...these sorts of things would paint a different picture. It should never be allowed and the call was missed but it was not abnormal in the game or in the NFL. You're arguing that a team should lose a game because of an incidental foul not because you've never seen other teams do that, but because you've already made up your mind about a team's character based on clips from Sportscenter.

Lastly....for what it's worth, Joe Webb is about as Tim Tebow as you can get.

Cujobob - Great observation!  Joe Webb is about as Tebow as you can get...except for the fact that he has more interceptions than touchdowns, has never won a pro game, never won a Heisman, and is not particularly good at football.  Other than those things, he's exactly like Tebow.  Great call. :duh:

Joe Webb does have a flexible neck, which comes in handy, especially when he's playing the Lions!  :thumb:

Hey guys, I'm not crying, that's just Baby Bron-Bron on my avatar!

Anyway, I am having trouble understanding which part of my post was incorrect.  Detroit barely squeaked by a bad Vikings team with a third string QB, on Detroit's home field.  They benefitted from a blown call on the final play that was obvious to eveyone who is not a fan of the Lions and will be an easy first round win for any team that faces them, if they make the playoffs.  If the Lions squeek into the playoffs, the only thing opposing teams will be concerned about are potential injuries resulting from all of those "incidental" face-mask and cheap shot plays Detroit is becoming famous for.

Speaking of dirty play, Suh is coming back next week.  Let's hope he can keep his emotions in check long enough to stay on the field for his team the next couple games.  Of course, he may just be sadly misunderstood and wrongfully singled out.   :thumb:

Cheers,

J

Joe Webb plays for a bad football team and I believe came from a small football program. Webb's play was the reason the Vikings came back, he caught the Lions off guard. I'm not overly concerned after the Lions dominated the first half and still pulled it out...won't see too many drastic QB changes in the playoffs, I'd guess.

The Lions do still have the league's best DL and it will determine how far in the playoffs they go.

So is Tebow going to be Andre Ware or Danny Wuerffel? Those are lofty expectations.  :thumb: Longterm the running QB thing has rarely panned out. Age and injuries take that away and you're left with a passer. He needs to be able to do that on a consistent basis.

Comparing this guy to Joe Webb, Andre Ware or Danny Wurffel just shows your lack of understanding.  Danny and Andre were Heisman winners like Tebow but  the similarities end there.  Wurffel was a great college QB but he was never a good runner and was a fourth round pick, not expected to do well in the NFL.  He never demonstated a knack for winning in the NFL and was undersized.  Andre Ware was just one of many first round BUSTS for Detroit who had no business in the NFL.  There have been lots of running QB's in this league but none with the pedigree and size of Tebow.  That doesn't guarantee success but it's fun watching this current run of success.

I'm not saying Tebow is going to be Johnny Unitas or Marino, and have said that several times in this thread.  I am enjoying this run that he is on and feel he has skills to be a starting QB in this league.  That's it.  Comparing this young guy to a bunch of bums and washouts like Wurffel and Ware only demonstrates your ignorance.

Oh yeah the Tebow pedigree I've been reading so much about. I don't dislike Tebow but you're claiming that an entire team have awful character but Tebow has pedigree without much to go on.  Maybe he has Tiger blood, too.

Give your bias a rest and look at the facts.  This Denver team sucked last year and was 1-4 I believe through the first five games this year. Tebow, an inexperienced quarterback without benefit of a training camp, was inserted as starter and they are suddenly winning games. He's led the team to some amazing late game victories and deserves some credit.  Comparing this guy to a bunch of washouts including one of the many losers who has played QB for the lions only highlighted your ignorance and bias.

I'm not saying he is an elite quarterback but I think he has a chance to play and be successful at the position. I also don't think the Denver team is good enough to beat the patriots but I never count Tebow out. If he has the ball in his hands with a chance to win the game, I'm not betting against him.

That's all.
