Well, brother, I bloody well hope so!  I like the Giants and do not like the niners.  I'm a former Dallas fan in case you couldn't tell.

Well, Jim - Congratulations on your recovery. Perhaps you could share the techniques and/or rituals you used to break the curse. I'm sure there are legions of desperate Cowboy fans out there who would give anything to get free of Jerry's circus.

That hit was legal as explained here:

http://www.shreveporttimes.com/article/20120116/SPORTS/201160326/Hit-by-Niners-Whitner-Saints-Thomas-legal

That explanation seems ridiculous coming from a league that claims to want to reduce concussions.

I don't know about that but you can't blame the refs because they called it by the way the rule is written.

Fair enough!
Personally I prefer to see skill and finesse on the football field rather than barbaric crippling injuries. Maybe it's time to go back to soft helmets.

In case anyone is interested the line for the games in the USA Today this morning were:

New England by 7.5 over the Ravens

San Fran versus the Giants - No Line

When folks talk about San Francisco they always talk about the defense which is excellent.  Most however do not give Alex Smith and the offense any credit.  Alex had a very good game against a heavily blitzing New Orleans Defense.  If the game next weekend were in New York I would definitely pick the Giants but it is in San Francisco.  While I know it will be a great game I think San Francisco has the edge at home.  Neither team will be intimidated by the other.  I can hardly wait to watch this one!

Can the Ravens beat the Pats?  Yes, the Steelers handed it to Pats by playing no huddle, ball control offense.  The Ravens can definitely win but Flacco is not playing with a lot of confidence and playing at New England will take a perfect game by the Raven Offense.  Maybe, I am wrong but I don't see Flacco having the game that will be required to beat the Pats.

Good luck to the fans of both teams.  I hope both games are the type of games that will keep me glued to the tube.

I don't think playing on the road will bother the Giants.

Knowing that the 'Niners beat the Saints, I have to go with them now to take the whole thing.

Intersting thought, though:

Did Alex Smith just land his hat into the ring for MVP?   Jim Harbaugh should absolutely get Coach of the Year; why shouldn't his QB be recognized, as well?

Or, does Brady just get it now, fair and square, because Brees and Rogers are out?

Alex Smith isn't even the MVP of his own team.

The MVP award is just for the regular season, playoffs aren't included. I think Rogers is a lock.

If Eli and the Gmen can do it again, the 2007 season is reborn in 2012.  Wow!

Helmet to helmet can't be a good thing for guys in the open field.  I mean those guys are going with some velocity.  It ought to NOT to be OK.  What?  Is a defender gonna miss a tackle or something?

My Ravens have had a good year but I never know which team is going to show up, more so which offense. Flacco is not on his A game which I agree needs to happen to beat New England.  Between the offensive coordinator and Flacco I just hold my breathe and hope they give a good effort offensively.

Giants-49'ers is a toss up for me.  Giants are capable of playing at a very high level and have some game breaking players but they can also stink up the joint.  49'ers I see as more consistent but I also see Smith having a low to counteract his extreme high in the win over the Saints.

Patriots-Giants rematch or Ravens-49'ers in a Harbaugh brother's defensive Superbowl.
I'll go with the much sexier match up of Patriots-Giants.

I'd like to see a New York/Baltimore match-up so the G-Men can extract revenge for Super Bowl XXXV.  :icon_twisted:

The Giants would have Flacco talking to himself and running backwards before the end of the first quarter. He is the least equipped to face that pass rush, although Alex Smith may have problems too. I'm sure you would see the revenge you seek if they play each other.

The modern NFL favors Hot Shot Quarterbacks over Defence.  a good Defence can disrupt and break the timing of even the best QB's in the NFL.often Flacco is not very pretty to watch but he has had more wins than any other starting QB in the NFL over the past four years.if you doubt it just look it up. the Ravens did beat the Patriots the last time they met in the playoffs. the Ravens went up to New England where they disrupted and caused general Mayhem  :icon_twisted:  Tom Brady threw three interceptions in our last playoff outing with the patriots and the Ravens won the game 33 to 14 after being the four point underdog. Go Ravens !

It's not so much Brady I worry about, it's those two big tight ends.  Much as I want to see the Ravens maul the Giants AGAIN  :icon_twisted:, I am afraid we won't get past NE.

Heard that.  Brady has an excellent receiver core for this one.

Yup!! Danger! Danger!
While the Ravens are watching Gronkowski, Hernandez, Welker and Woodhead, Ochocinco will get the revenge he's wanted after all those years of being an AFC North doormat.

85 is still a moron.  And the Ravens have Ed Reed.  Love to see Ray Lewis level ol' 85 and scare him so bad he'll drop passes.

Doesn't mean I think the Ravens will win.   :|

I'm not as familiar with the Ravens play as you are but I suspect they'll have something more important for Ed Reed to do besides chasing that moron down the sidelines. Ray Lewis won't be able to keep up with the tight ends, will he?
