Thanks for pointing out that I'm wrong again.  I guess he only gsmes the Lions lose are ones in which they are cheated by the refs or ones in which Stafford is playing hurt.  Looks like little Matty is healthy, so if the refs call a fair game I'm curious to see how they will do against the Saints.  I'm eager to hear the next round of sour grapes and complaining. At least it will end after next week's game.

Hopefully, their "misunderstood" players like Suh will receive fair treatment from the officials.  To the outside world, these guys are thugs, punks and dirty players.  Maybe I should listen to the local Detroit broadcast so I can hear the unbiased troof.

It's not about misunderstood, it's about how the media and league twists things. Do you really think the Lions are any dirtier than the Packers? Last night's game would show a different light but nobody is talking about that. The face of the Lions has been Suh even though Stafford and megatron are just as good and older.

Look I'm not saying the Lions are perfect or the best or that everything they've done I'm fine with, but the same goes for every team pretty much. Jaded fanboys annoy me just as bad officiating and league intervention do. There is more talk about Tim Tebow than anything else going on right now, is that deserved? Did you ever look at the clip when the packers player was on top of Suh before they rolled over? Why is that not shown in replays? Because you can spin a moment however you like, money is made by stuff like that. I'm sorry your Bears disappointed but be reasonable.

I'm feeling pretty good about the Saints. :D    They haven't lost a game since losing to the lowly Rams. I'm pretty sure the Pack understands the same resolve, thanks to lowly KC.

I always hope that championship games are #1 vs #1. Now, I'm only hoping that the Saints and the Pack meet at Lambeau, in January, for the privilege of going to the Big Game. I think that game could be better than the Superbowl.  :thumb:

Go Saints,

Guys:

I am very proud that my Steelers made the playoffs again and I will note that the AFC North is the best division in the NFL this year.  Three teams in the Playoffs and two of them are 12-4!  I know that most are crowning the Packers as the 2012 Superbowl Champions but I assure you that there is a lot of football to play.

The odds are long against my Steelers because they are injured and have to play on the road.  My favorite in the NFC is San Francisco and The Patriots in the AFC.   It will be a very interesting Post Season.  Personally, I just want my Steelers to beat Tim Tebow as I am sick of Tebow Ball.

As a very long time Bronco fan, I will join you in being tired of Tebow Ball. What a hoax! A small amount of talent and preposterous luck conspired to make Tebow seem effective for a short time. Now reality has taken over and young Timmy has been shown up. Personally, I think he throws like a girl.

When you get it wrong, expect to get called on it.   You keep making sweeping generalizations about games you did not watch.  Read the article posted earlier.

No one is saying that Detroit (or anyone else) is above criticism.  Certainly, they have been learning how to win, and yes, they have stumbled along the way with stupid penalties, control of emotions, etc.  That is all fair game, and have no problems with those kind of comment.

What is NOT fair game are lectures about an entire team and city being routinely trashed (based on what?), and yes, you will get called on that as well.  Your comment about "troof" could be considered slanderous, and is at least poetically incorrect.

Let’s just stick to the games, players, and teams on this thread.

Sounds like you got a mad on, George.

You should me this upcoming Sunday!   :o

Big Blue is going to have a tough time with Atlanta, but they can definitely win it.  Especially if the defensive line plays like it did against Dallas.

Well George, congrats to your Giants.  Dallas just didn't have the manpower to be a consistant contender this year and you guys just had the better team. Truth is, the loss was the best thing that could have happened to Dallas- moving them toward the top of the cluster of 8-8 teams in the draft and exposing weaknesses that not even their ego blind owner can deny.
I think you've got a good chance against the Falcons, but after that....

Against Pittsburg, I vote for letting Tebow call his own plays.  Think I'm crazy?  The team has no chance with what we've seen lately.  Take the wraps off the lad, tell him to win it, and block for Christ's sake.  The big fellow is not your conventional quarterback, so forget comventional wisdom and play to his strengths for the entire game.  Quick counts and always be moving forward.  He doesn't see the field well enough for drop back passes or the routes are wrong for him.  Tuck it away and run (forward) if you must to avoid losing yardage (and looking so pitiful).  Does this kid have a coach?  Shorten up plays and just keep movin the ball.  The longer it takes, the better.  Tebow is not much of a talker, it would seem.  Does he have a coach?  Coach needs to put it all out there.  O lineman don't pride themselves in pass blocking.  Hell, that makes them nervous.  They pride themselves in opening holes and it doesn't take as long, either.  Sheet, man, I should be coaching this team.

Troof?  Looks like you and several Lions fans can't handle the troof.  After every loss, all you can do is complain about officiating and make excuses for your sorry team.  The truth is the Lions are in the playoffs because of Jay Cutler's injury. They couldn't even beat a Packers team with a backup QB.

I didn't hear any Lions fans complaining when they benefitted from a blown (obvious) non-call to beat the hapless Vikings. Every team deals with bad calls and good teams overcome occasional bad calls and manage to win games.  Let's see how the Lions do against a good team playing all of their starters next week.  I suspect we won't be hearing from Lions fans after next week.

That's the troof!  Good riddance.

I don't see any Tebow fans predicting a win for the Broncos.  The guy has played very poorly and it looks like the end of the line for the Broncos. He can't throw a football and I expect the Steelers to stack the line and dare the Broncos to win by throwing the football.  At this point, I can't imagine anyone giving the Broncos a chance to win this game after the way Tebow played against a bad KC team.  Their best hope is to play a backup QB and put Tebow at fullback. Not going to happen but I don't think they win this game with him at QB.

I enjoyed the unexpected run the Brincos had this year. Tebow had some dramatic comebacks and provided some excitement to football fans. Those days appear to be long gone and the haters are getting their "told you so" moments as I predicted.

Again, Cutler and Stafford both faced injuries. Perhaps if Chicago had a talented OL and kept their QB upright, this conversation seems a lot different. Every team does face poor calls from refs, but I doubt more face bad calls than the Lions. After all, I've seen key drives given to opponents because of QBs falling over their offensive linemen ('roughing the passer' and Suh was called for illegal hits that were perfectly legal amonst the many I can name off).

By the way, you were talking about how dirty the Lions are... http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id/36848/free-head-exam-detroit-lions-33

Read number 2. How much exposure has that hit received?

The Lions likely won't beat the Saints, but neither would the Bears. The Saints and Packers are probably the best teams this season and in their house, I don't expect most teams to win there.

You seem to forget the Lions easily handled the Bears at Ford Field. The game in Chicago Detroit was dealing with some injuries (including the dirty hit by Urlacher that gave a concussion to Scheffler). The only reason the Bears had any chance in Detroit was because Cutler played out of this world. The rest of his team was awful, however.

Obvious touchdowns not being called are not 'occasional' bad calls. Completing the Process is only a phrase you know because the Lions got screwed last season. When they got screwed in Green Bay, what excuse was there? Was it a close sidelines play? Sure...but no more so than any other sidelines/endzone catch. As the article says, the league usually rules in favor of the touchdown realizing it can always change it via replay. It's also convenient the Lions couldn't challenge because they lost one out of two challenges on a play where the returner was clearly down by contact but the camera angles were 'inconclusive' for the refs. Perhaps it was all just bad luck, but it happens a bit too often for liking. It's upsetting because if the Lions avoid the Saints and somehow another team manages to upset them, Detroit would have a reasonable chance at a championship. And yes, the Lions lost to a Green Bay backup (with the help of the refs)...Green Bay at full strength lost to a lousy KC squad Detroit blew out this season. What's your point?

The Lions handed it to the Bears, before the Bears started playing well.  Rumor around here is that Cutler started to disregard some of the pathetic play calling of Martz and did his own thing for a while.  Either way, they were a different team when they faced the Lions for the second game.  You must be kidding about the Packers/KC game because it's completely unrelated to the Lions' loss.  The Packers simply overlooked a bad KC team and played poorly.  The Lions lost to a Packer team, in an important game, that was playing with backups including a QB who had not started a game all year.  The backup QB up record numbers against the Lions' starting defense and you are complaining about a call?  The Lions should have beaten the Pack by more than the touchdown they lost as a result of an admittedly bad call.

Also, Cutler wasn't injured because of a bad O'line.  He broke his thumb trying to tackle a guy who intercepted one of his passes.  It was a freak play that killed the Bears' season.  It's not a stretch to say the Bears gave Detroit the wildcard slot.  The Bears had a cake schedule at the end of the season and managed to lose to some of the worst teams in the league before throwing in the towel on Hanie.  They would have beaten KC, Seattle, Denver and possibly Oakland with Cutler and would have probably beaten those bad teams with McCown at QB.  Detroit is lucky to be in the playoffs but their luck appears to have run out.

I'm curious to see how this young Lions team does against a legitimate playoff team, playing all of their starters.  Both teams are at full strength and playing in a dome, which is good for the Lions.  Megatron is the most dominant offensive player in the NFL (non-QB, IMO) and he has a good young QB with a strong arm throwing him the ball.  They can score points but can they stop the Saint's offense?  This will be a good test to see if the Lions are ready for primetime or if their season was a fluke.

This is the year of the upset and I expect at least one or two of the big teams to be knocked out.  The Giants did it a few years ago when they came into Lambeau and knocked out the Pack in route to a Superbowl victory.  I hope we see some upsets this upcoming weekend.  Anything is possible.

Cheers,

J
