Detroit beat Chicago on the carpet when the Bears were not playing well. The Bears humiliated the Lions outdoors in Chicago. Humiliated them. The Niners came to the dome and kicked Detroit's butt. Did you forget the little hissy fit your coach threw after the game? He's lucky Harbaugh didn't turn around and kick his little punk ass. What en embarrassment. Okay I have to admit, as long as Detroit has Megatron, they have a chance to win any game. He is the most dominant offensive player (non-QB) in the NFL, IMO. I expect teams to try to rough him up in the playoffs. That seemed to work well for the Bears in he second game but I don't see any team stopping him. Still, I do t see them getting past the first game. Detroit's lack of discipline and chippy play will be their undoing. This is going to be an interesting playoff. The Packers and Pats have great offenses but absolutely NO defense. Saints look great at times but can they play like that outside the dome? Detroit has looked good against inferior opponents but can they win on the road, outside the dome? Also, does anyone really think the Cowgirls or Goants deserve to be I the playoffs? Too bad Philly took so long to get their act together because they would be a tough playoff team.
Who Dat? If Drew Brees doesn't get MVP, something's wrong.Go Saints!
Stop crying over Detroit like a distraught school girl who missed the prom. If you were as up on football as you claim, you would know that Detroit lost those three games when Stafford broke his finger, and the coaches still played him. In retrospect, they should have started Shaun Hill for those games. If you watched what Detroit did to San Diego, you would have seen a team who was executing well on both sides of the ball, and most of all, disciplined (as in no stupid penalties) It appears that they have learned their lessons, and may be ready to take the next step. The D-Line of the Lions may be the best in the NFL, and can be a disruptive force against any opponent. While I still think they are one more year away from becoming dominant, there future is among the brightest of any of the NFL teams. They will continue to get better, and could wreak havoc in the playoffs this year. The team to me that has the best shot overall is the Saints. Their offense is almost unstoppable, and the defense, whole not great, seems to be good enough. The Packers might be too dinged up to make it all the way. Also, one can never discount Tom Brady’s Patroits.Should be interesting.
The only distraught crying schoolgirls will be The Lions' fans after they get bounced from the first round of he playoffs. A team full of cheap shot hood-rats and punks, a perfect match for a city like Detroit. Congratulations on finally having a football team that doesn't totally suck. Wish I could say the same for your town. CheersJ
NFC East and AFC West are remarkably similar in that all four teams are undeserving of a playoff spot. Rules are rules, however, and each division winner gets to advance, even if they are not really among the 12 best teams in the league. The big difference is that the NFC teams just underachieved; the AFC teams are actually not too good. The Raiders lost a lot to injury and the Broncos benefited from divine intervention, but neither team is staffed like the Cowboys and Giants. On the AFC side, the Ravens will likely choke on Flacco mistakes as usual. The Steelers will probably get the Rooney Ref treatment that always gives them an edge. The Patriots are strong, experienced and iffy. Houston is one and done. Jets are staying home. Bengals might surprise. Tenn. is too weak and inconsistent. Yuck! This is an NFC Super Bowl win for the team that emerges. I think that might be Detroit.
Bengals/Ravens, whoa! Big game right here. Who IS Detroit playiing next? San Francisco, no?
Jerry, congratulations! What a finish! Brees get my vote for MVP.
