Peyton Manning for mvp.

Detroit beat Chicago when all players were healthy. It was also a home game, of course. The game vs the 49ers was close and a hell of a game. Would love a rematch.

Detroit beat Chicago on the carpet when the Bears were not playing well. The Bears humiliated the Lions outdoors in Chicago.  Humiliated them.

The Niners came to the dome and kicked Detroit's butt. Did you forget the little hissy fit your coach threw after the game?  He's lucky Harbaugh didn't turn around and kick his little punk ass. What en embarrassment.

Okay I have to admit, as long as Detroit has Megatron, they have a chance to win any game. He is the most dominant offensive player (non-QB) in the NFL, IMO. I expect teams to try to rough him up in the playoffs. That seemed to work well for the Bears in he second game but I don't see any team stopping him.  Still, I do t see them getting past the first game. Detroit's lack of discipline and chippy play will be their undoing.

This is going to be an interesting playoff. The Packers and Pats have great offenses but absolutely NO defense.  Saints look great at times but can they play like that outside the dome?  Detroit has looked good against inferior opponents but can they win on the road, outside the dome?  Also, does anyone really think the Cowgirls or Goants deserve to be I the playoffs?  Too bad Philly took so long to get their act together because they would be a tough playoff team.

Stop crying over Detroit like a distraught school girl who missed the prom.  If you were as up on football as you claim, you would know that Detroit lost those three games when Stafford broke his finger, and the coaches still played him.  In retrospect, they should have started Shaun Hill for those games.

If you watched what Detroit did to San Diego, you would have seen a team who was executing well on both sides of the ball, and most of all, disciplined (as in no stupid penalties)  It appears that they have learned their lessons, and may be ready to take the next step.  The D-Line of the Lions may be the best in the NFL, and can be a disruptive force against any opponent.  While I still think they are one more year away from becoming dominant, there future is among the brightest of any of the NFL teams.  They will continue to get better, and could wreak havoc in the playoffs this year.
The team to me that has the best shot overall is the Saints.  Their offense is almost unstoppable, and the defense, whole not great, seems to be good enough.  The Packers might be too dinged up to make it all the way.  Also, one can never discount Tom Brady’s Patroits.

Should be interesting.

Who Dat?  8)

If Drew Brees doesn't get MVP, something's wrong.

Go Saints!

Check out this article on comparing Rodgers and Brees for MVP:

Personally, I would vote Rodgers, but Brees is having a tremendous season.  One of them should be hoisting the Lombardy Trophy in February.

Jerry, congratulations!  What a finish!  Brees get my vote for MVP.

You cannot go wrong with a vote for Rodgers or Brees this year.  I voted for Rodgers in the fan voting poll.  This year reminds me of the many years the argument was always Manning or Brady.  No different this year, just different players!

The NFL certainly has the playoff formula perfect as I believe only 12 teams were eliminated going into the games this past weekend.  Even with the last week of the season teams are trying to get in or contend for seeding position.  Great for we fans!

The only distraught crying schoolgirls will be The Lions' fans after they get bounced from the first round of he playoffs.  A team full of cheap shot hood-rats and punks, a perfect match for a city like Detroit.

Congratulations on finally having a football team that doesn't totally suck. Wish I could say the same for your town.

Cheers

Well, once again, your postings reflect a general lack of maturity, as obviously reflected in your avatar, which matches the attitude.

I’m not at all sure just how far the Lions will go into the playoffs, as they seem like they are still a year away from moving up to a top tier status.  However, having said that, it would not surprise me if they went pretty deep in the playoffs.  Stafford is starting to look like a top tier quarterback, and that D-Line can cause any team a lot of trouble.

As I see it, Detroit has a huge incentive to win next Sunday and their opponent (Green Bay) has no reason to show up or risk injury. If the Lions win that game, they clinch the 5 seed, which puts them against the winner of Giants/Cowboys. That's almost as good as a bye.
The 6th seed, on the other hand, has to play the 3rd seed which will be either N.O. or S.F.

Bet on the Lions.

Probability says that the second round in the NFC will be the Lions/Packers and N.O./S.F.
The only question I see is where the latter game is to be played.

Longshot scenario has Atlanta beating S.F. in the 1st round and playing the Pack in round two at Lambeau. If that happens, then the Lions visit N.O.

I would have to pick Detroit over the Cowboys or Giants, two pathetic teams who have no business making the post season.  Even though I'm far from being a lions fan, I'll root for them over the Giants or Cowboys.  Things get a lot tougher after that game.

The Packers look very beatable on defense but Rogers is playing at an amazing level and i wouldn't bet against him in a shootout.  This has been an amazing year for great QB play.  It would be hard to choose the best QB this year between Brady, Brees or Rogers.  Among those three, there is no wrong answer but if I had to pick, I'd take Rogers.

Bree's is a great QB and I'm happy to see Marino's record go to such a class act.  Today's rules make it easier for a QB to rack up big numbers and I don't think Brees is as talented as Dan Marino was (not even close) but he has a Supebowl ring, which Dan never got.

This has been a strange year and very little would surprise me in the playoffs but if i had to pick, the Packers would be my choice.  If they don't at least make he SB, I'll be surprised an disappointed.

The Packers have some injury issues that could trip them up.  That is why I am leaning towards N.O.  Can't discount the Pats, either.  Tom Brady is not one to bet against in a big spot.

However, you never know?  That is why they play the games.

Yep, I agree!  The Pats look great on offense but might be even worse than the pack on defense. The Saints are playing well but dome teams usually have big problems on the road in cold climates.  Lambeau in January will be a tough place for them to win if it comes down to it.

NFC East and AFC West are remarkably similar in that all four teams are undeserving of a playoff spot. Rules are rules, however, and each division winner gets to advance, even if they are not really among the 12 best teams in the league.

The big difference is that the NFC teams just underachieved; the AFC teams are actually not too good. The Raiders lost a lot to injury and the Broncos benefited from divine intervention, but neither team is staffed like the Cowboys and Giants.

On the AFC side, the Ravens will likely choke on Flacco mistakes as usual. The Steelers will probably get the Rooney Ref treatment that always gives them an edge. The Patriots are strong, experienced and iffy. Houston is one and done. Jets are staying home. Bengals might surprise. Tenn. is too weak and inconsistent. Yuck! This is an NFC Super Bowl win for the team that emerges. I think that might be Detroit.

How about laying off the NY teams and the NFC East and wait to see what happens?  Not sure what you have against them, but post after post bashing them is getting old fast.

While I hope that it is the Giants making it to the playoffs, either Dallas or New York can win their first round match-up and advance.

Rex Ryan brings all the scorn heaped on the Jets by himself (pretty hard to defend).  The Giants and Jets have not lived up to their potential, and from what one reads, the New York folks are all over both teams as it is (The Cowboys have not, either).

The one thing the Giants have going for them is their D-Line, which kept them in the game with Green Bay.   They have had a lot of injury issues, but as they say "It's part of the game".

Like it or not, the Giants and Cowboys will simply have to play better in a hurry, or else they are done for the year.

Detroit is at Green Bay.   If they win (and they might), they will be the #5 seed, which means they play the New York/Dallas winner.

Then I hope they do.  I'd like to see them in action in the playoffs.  Thanks.

I would've loved to have been on Bourbon Street after the game!  :banana piano:

If I had to bet on the "Best Team Leader" right now, every penny would go on Drew. I think he has inspired that team. It's going to be fun to watch.  :thumb:

Go Saints,
