This is a massive box set that contains 72 cd's and over 72 hours of music from the legendary Europe '72 tour.  You can read about it on the Dead's website (http://www.dead.net/features/news/europe-72-complete-recordings-all-music-edition), but that's all you can do...all 7200 copies of the box set sold out months and months ago.

The packaging is in the form a suitcase and the layout of the cd's and books is excellent!

It will take me a while to rip all 72 cd's, but it will be worth it.   :thumb: :thumb:

I hope to listen a bit in the next day or two before I lend out my digital front end.

Did anybody else get theirs yet?

Awesome, wish I'd seen this back in March, probably on the road somewhere in the world.  Hope it sounds good on the BDP.

I got mine! Well... I sorta got my two...

In the confusion of the system crashing when they first became available, I was unsure if my order actually went through -- even though I ended up with an order #.  So, given the chance to place another order, I did, after trying for a week or more to confirm that my first order went through, I was told the order did not go through and their system did not even have order #'s that look and read like mine at all. We all (GDM too) figured the order was dead... I had the chance to make a second order, so I did.

Moving forward to the mid summer phone call from GDM to make sure all was good and personalization was in place correctly, I was able to confirm TWO boxes, one with my name and one named "Cosmic Charlie" for a friend...

Then, just this week I get an email stating that my CC info is no good and they need to call me or have me reach them to get new info. OK, thats kinda weird since the card I used for the order that went through was still being used... I contact them yesterday, get the CC info straightened out, then 10 mins later (!!!) two boxes show up.
So how did they process an order without the card going through? Does this mean I have another order coming?!?!!?

The weird thing is both the 'dead/nonexistent' order AND the confirmed order #'s are here consisting of one box each, not two.

Bad thing is, I got my box and someone else's!!!

If anyone knows "Bruce david Rogers" tell him I have his box...

Im sure they will make this right but at the moment I am feeling bad for Bruce who may have someone else's, then they may have someone else's too and so on and so on!

Wonder how bad this customization is going to be messed up?

Glad you got your correct box George.

I thought there would be more surprise goodies in there, like they originally stated but besides the two books there is only one extra "GD '72" paper sticker. Thought for sure there would at least be a button or two like the Winterland boxes, or something. They said there would be... Not really complaining though. I love the packaging and "The Book of the Dead" from '72 along with the hardcover. Good stuff!

Wish my new SC's were here to get listening with!

Ill let ya'll know how the rest of the story goes once I hear back from them...

Enjoy

 Jason

PS: I got box 1308 and "Bruce's" is 1309

I'm hoping mine comes today.  :bounce:

Grrr... seeing this thread prompted me to call Customer Service: I haven't received notification that my card was charged, etc.

Sure enough, my conversation with the CSR yields a tracking number, while running the tracking number tells me that the package is waiting on my front porch.

Time to go home.

(update, now that I'm home)

Uh, wow. And wow. And wow some more.

Usually, I find specialty packaging an annoying wank. However, this package is simply amazing. As an aside, UPS tossed mine (marked 'Fragile') over my fence. So, I guess the lot is rated for a six foot drop onto concrete.

The books are both well done.

The packages for the individual shows are crimped, so the discs won't slide all the way through.

(and most importantly)

Props on the sound. They laid off the compression at the mastering point. I'm actually getting the volume knob to the 10 o'clock position.

I got the one I ordered. Sorry for the blurry pic:

Congrats Nomad! Nice low number too... Not that it matters, just a throw back from my poster and print collecting days.
Got the first show in now, in my second (tv) system.

This is so cool...I haven't been in the loop to know this was even out.  Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, and yeah, I'm with you: I was stoked that I got a number under a thousand. I used to do (at different times) antiquarian and contemporary books, comics, stamps and coins. I numbered nicely on the GD silver coins as well: SYF @ 1394 & Bertha @ 809.

Matty: While the trunk edition is sold out, they are selling a music-only version. However, no break on the price.

For those of you who will be ripping the box set for use in a computer based system, what are you doing for album art?

Are you going to use the generic cover art (see below) for each show or the unique cover art that's on each show cd?

The covers of the first five shows can be found here.  I am assuming that whoever is doing these scans (which are pretty good) will continue to, but who knows?

How does this stuff sound? I'm guessing pretty good.
