Managed to find some free time this morming to re-kick start my collection loading onto DISCOGS.
The Classical stuff remains on hold - need more time to load up releases that are not on the database.
There's just no way 5-10 min guideline time is possible for me, especially for Classical discs - these are nearer half an hour by the time I've added the necessary pics.

Anyway - Now finished up to artists that begin with the letter C and starting the D's - LINK
Still a long way to go  :?

There's some discs where my release copy is not exactly as the ones identifed, these are logged for future consideration of a specific release.

I did add one - Clannad's In Concert, this is probably quite a rare pressing - Ireland on Ogham Records.
I've issued a draft release, created from a copy of a version already on the database.
Unfortunately it appears not to have linked it the previous releases despite my using one as a start point

Any of you regular users know what I did wrong and how I can get it to link back to the releases already on the DOGS?

Anyway, off and running, lets see if I can get the albums finished before the end of the year? Singles and CD's might need to wait a bit longer.

Cheers
Dave

I figured it out -- save the release as a draft and copy the release number at the end of the address in the browser bar. Then click to edit the master release and add the new release number to the list...
its a lot of clicks but works.

Dave:

Did you try these simple steps?

I've blasted through 800 listings... hopefully I'll get some time this weekend to list some more. I don't even want to think about the classical! Today the local university's radio station hosts a used record sale. It's an annual event that raises money for special causes. They typically have thousands of records and even some old gear. Last year I picked up about 20 records and a vintage pair of speakers. Wish me luck!

Thanks Bside,
Following your tip has allowed me to link my release into the master release - but my release is still shown on it's own under the Clannad discography alongside the Master Release

Blimey is this thing Klunky!

Yes Good Luck at the Record Sale - Will be keeping an eye on the Catch of the Day thread

Cheers

Dave, I clicked on your release. It looks all good to me. If I understand you correctly, I believe this is normal. Since you've introduced a new release that is not currently in the Discogs database (Irish Pressing), it will show up as it's own in the Clannad discography, and at the same time be listed in the Master Release.  :dunno: Right!?

Possibly - typically alternative pressings/releases are identified under one master release, esp. if the track listing is the same?
I can't do any more - hopefully those able to vote will advise and not give me a black mark and get me off the contributors register again.
Thanks for your help - lets see what happens.
Cheers
Dave

I'm catching up  :D
Nothing specifically planned for today, raining outside, kids happy doing their own thing.
So might as well have a good crack at this.

Now managed to get to the L's and currently showing 489

Found a couple of discs where no record of any pressing exists (probably a good reason for this)

Lisa Dominique – Gypsy Ryder
Hollywood (The Rods Project) – Canedy, Feinstein, Bordonaro & Caudle

Downing tools now for the rest of the day.

There's a few that I've dropped in where the going price has surprised me a little - Not enough to consider selling them on though  :icon_lol:

I'm looking at the racks as I type, thought I was about halfway there, but there's loads of M's, P's, S's, T's (especially T's) U's and W's

Still plenty to do but, glad to have made a stout start  :P

Hi Fellow DISCOGS Friends

A quick update
Following a healthy spurt over the weekend and again tonight, I've now loaded my (non-Classical) LP's into the DOGS

Well, nearly all - there are a few that don't exist (will add these over the next few days) and there's also a couple that I've leant to friends and I need back to verify the catalogue number.

Singles and EP's will be next, followed by CD's.

Adding the Classical discs will need to be a labour of love as it will involve the need to add numerous releases into the database

Here's a link 952 in total.

Thanks again for the other contributors to this thread spurring me on into action, I've actually found it quite interesting and once you get into it, it doesn't actually take that long.

Got to admit I have cheated a little bit. There are quite a few (approx 5%) where my exact catalogue number has not yet been added. In most cases European pressings were included and mine are typically UK.
I've made a note of these but not sure when/if I'll get round to releasing these.

Cheers
Dave

:D - there's plenty of common ground in there Jim and possibly a few unfamiliar that may be of interest.
I've now started on the CD's and been quite surprised of what's not on the Database, especially more modern Hard Rock from the early Noughties  - Giant III, Harem Scarem, Royal Hunt amongst others.
It's gonna take longer than I thought getting the CD's on the DOGS
Cheers

Whew...!  :banghead: Up to 941 entires and still going... I don't even want to think about the classical LPs. I'll cross that bridge after the pop, rock, soul, blues, jazz, country, etc. Oh... and then there's the handful of 45s. Oh... and then there's the 200 or so records that I haven't even cleaned or sorted... This will be worth it later I'm sure...  :o

I'm nearly done now  :D
Classical aside, all loaded other than a final few that I need to add to the database.
Am slowly knocking these down one by one, should be complete in the next week or so.
Am gonna have a rest before contemplating the Classical though

Current count 1202

A long exhaustive process, but at this point, I think it's well worth it.
