How to update iPad OS?

Hi, I can't figure out how to update my iPad 1 to the lastest version of the OS.  Can someone show me?

Plug your iPad into your computer and start iTunes (if it doesn't start automatically). In iTunes, click on the iPad icon on the left hand side under Devices. iTunes will then tell you if there is an update available for the OS running on your iPad. If so, follow the instructions to update it.

Thanks!  I was successful downloading the latest OS but I'm running into another problem.  My iPad remote control apps for iTunes and Fidelia no longer starts when I click the icons.  Am I missing something here?

Do a hard reboot of your iPad (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button, slide to power down; press and hold again to power on). In most instances, that should work. If not, it means the developers of those particular apps haven't updated their apps to the current OS rev.

I had to delete the remote apps and reinstall them.  That fixed the problem. :thumb:

I guess it depends on what you do with the iPad.  Currently, we use this as solely a web surfing device.  We have no movies, pictures, music on it.  I use my iPod for music.  We don't play games with it.  I assume in the future, we'll use the iPad for movies and maybe pictures, but we'll see.  I have a 3TB drive with all my movies, pictures, music, home videos on it; we just bring my wife's laptop and watch everything using it.  For us, the 16GB is plenty of space right now.
