Dodd Audio Buffer - COMPLETE in case! $300 + psu
« on: 15 Aug 2011, 05:04 am »
Guys,

I nearly fell off my chair when I saw that Gary was offering a stand-alone, 6v buffer for $300, in the case, built, with all connectors, etc.   This is the same buffer that is in Sensation and it's marvellous.  If you have a ONE or TWO and want to tube it up a bit, check this out.

That price does not include tubes or a 12v battery supply (another $249) is like the one he provides us only with an even more sophisticated charger and is 12v.

He says he's got 5 of them all made up and ready to go.  I'd like to say that this is charity because Gary's still clawing his way back after months on his back eating expensive hospital food, but it's not.

It's just a damn good deal.

And I'm going to sweeten that deal.  Buy a buffer from Gary and I'll send you $30 pay-pal toward a pair of tubes.

If I just had a use for one!
It is a very very sweet deal, and $30 back just makes it even better.

Does this one have a volume control? Can't quite make out if that's a volume control next to the on/off switch in the pic...

That would be the world's smallest volume control.  I think it is probably a power indicator light.

I agree, it seems very small...but I thought the Dodd buffer was essentially a no-gain preamp with volume control (based on website info and past AC posts). Maybe this version is simply a buffer with no volume control...

This option is basically a 1 input and 1 output where the signal goes is affected by the tube. No volume or gain control and no selector switch.

Alright, thanks WC.
I wonder how hard it would be to add a 100k pot to the right of the on/off switch. Based on the size of this unit, it might be too cramped in there.
