I'm resurrecting this thread for a new problem and thought it may be helpful should someone find it in the future to find it all in one thread.

Turned on amp yesterday and no sound, nothing. Tried a different source, it appears it's the same on all inputs. Just looked at it turned on in a dark room and none of the small input tubes are glowing. Pretty unscientific, but that's my troubleshooting so far, where do I go from here?

Thanks for any help y'all can offer.

Check your power supply fuse(s).

Is there more than one power supply? KT88s are lit up as well as front panel lights, would this not indicate power supply is working? No obvious fuses on back panel...are they internal?

Thanks

There may also be internal fuses to check.

It would seem there's something going on in your heater circuit for the drivers...at the least.  If they are on the same circuit as the 6550s (I doubt it since the 6550s are glowing) then you've got a broken wire, solder joint or broken heater connection inside the tube.  If you're comfortable with this, pop the hood and begin inspecting all the solder joints and visible components looking for anything loose or burnt.  If it all looks good than replace the drivers one by one to find the culprit.  If all this fails you'll need to take it in for more serious work.  If you're not comfortable popping the hood then just start replacing the drivers one by one and see if that works.

Actually, step 1 or 2 should be calling Bill O'Connell and asking him. Nice guy and very helpful in my experience. An AC member to do you could also PM.

Got my EE M88 in 2011, only now, June 2014, i changed the smaller tubes.

I had already changed the major kt 88 tubes about a year ago, as I had one stoke gone bad on me, and musicality had improved.  And, once again, the sound quality has improved again with this change.  I believe that the main improvement is in the mid to lower frequencies, as I can hear stronger more detailed bass in several pieces: Vingt Six (John Abercrombie), Languta (Hugh Masekela), Us and Them (Anne Bisson).  Additionally, it seems also the the music is overall fuller (sorry, it is best word I guess)...
