Danny,
Any updates on your new designs?

I am still waiting for the new 6.5" woofers to arrive. They are suppose to have the production run completed and ready to ship out by the end of this month. Then I have to wait for the slow boat from India... No one is more anxious than me.

These new 8" servo subs are screaming for me to use them in the X-Otica design with the new 6.5" woofers.....

Are there any plans for the 8" sub?

Will Brian be assisting you in that endeavor?

Yep, new amps are being developed just for the new 8's.

Will any of the kits using the new drivers be in the same or better league  than Super Vs?

X-Otica will be a pretty serious speaker, and a kit. It is hard to say though if it will sound as good as a Super-V. It clearly will not have 97db sensitivity. It will be more like 91db.

I don't know how you exhibit so much patience and self control, Danny.

I would be blabbing about everything all the time.  To a fault.

I hope there will always be a great performing kit available with high sensitivity.  When I'm prepared to invest, i want to have that super-v performance with a low watt DIY SET tube amp.

From what I've read in this and similar threads, I can't wait for the new great things to come!

Hi Danny I don't think I have waited more anxiously for a new speaker than your new offering ... Any update?  Any chance of this happening sooner  :thumb:

Danny, any updates? When are you going to share detail on the new kits you have in the works?

I have to get these new drivers in first. The production run is taking longer than expected.

Depressingly, this thread started Aug 2011. I look at the GR Research website weekly. Nothing has changed for an awful long time.

I'm in no hurry, still a few pieces away from completing my 2.2 music system, but after hearing the N1x Danny's new designs are high on my list for next speaker.

Danny, you said the 6.5 will be a mid bass and you might use it with 8" servo as bass. So what is the anticipated high frequency range of the 6.5?
Thanks

It has a usable range that will allow it to cross as high as 4kHz, but I won't ever be running it up that high in any of the designs that I will be using it in.

Wanted to bump this up again and see how things are progressing:

Three new kits mentioned

New modular amp

Anything else I forgot?

Peerless has had a lot of delays in getting in all of the raw materials to get my new drivers completed, and this has delayed the new models. They finally got it together (I think) and said that my order will ship complete next week. I hope that they are correct.

Brian Ding is still working with suppliers on new servo amps.

Things just don't move like they used to.

Does any of this relate to China controlling neodymium supplies?  I've read that shortages are showing up in lots of industries.

That might have had something to do with it. I did not get a full report as to what materials were the hold up.
