second system

Nothing is permanent around here. Set up my little system today with a capable little amp and my extra AVA DAC.

The sound is very, very enjoyable, makes you wonder why people have to spend $10,000 on an amp.

Some classic stuff there rcag.  My second system is - T-8, Insight 250 (twice upgraded originally home built Hafler DH200), Ultra Dac, Sony CDP-CX355 carousel, and Dahlquist DCM-7s. Makes for some good listening while working.

I have a 2nd and 3rd system.

A vintage 1976 Technics SU-7600 integrated amp with a pair of Monitor Audio S1's for my bedroom.  This amp is still going strong and sounds great.  It has that vintage 1970's sound.  I have been holding off refurbishing it because I don't want to change the sound.

And a pair of Magnepan MMG's with a higher end older JVC AVR in my workout area in my basement.

One of these days I will get around to buying some used AVA gear to pair with the Maggies.  Right now I'm looking at some cheap and cheerful DAC's.

You are exactly right, I listen to my second system while I am doing work around the house. For my main system, I have to go through the usual ritual, mentally prepare myself, making sure that I won't be disturbed during the listening session, and etc.

The Webcor record player that the amp's sitting on basically is there as a piece of furniture. It works, but not for playing your prize records. However, it has a full set of Mullard tubes in it, and nice wood.

I have some great "second system" used stuff available right now, such as an excellent OmegaStar Control amplifier ($695) and an Ultra hybrid DAC ($695).  Both carry our factory one year parts and labor warranty and a 30 day satisfaction guarantee.

Actually, for most, these would be great "first system" choices.
