So this article got me thinking:

Could I put my Camera Connection Kit into my iPad, plug that into my TubeMagic DAC's USB output, and get high-quality digital output?

So I tried. And failed. The iPad threw the old "not enough power to run this USB device" error.

Could this be because the TubeMagic isn't sending enough power through its USB port? Any ideas? Sure, I could use the DAC's line input, but hey, I want the rich, buttery, digital goodness.

Yes. I've tried it with numerous dacs and in most instances it works. Uncortunately, a few dacs do not supply enough power for the iPad.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Oh well, can't win them all. Guess this shouldn't surprise me since it's a $200 DAC.
