Hi Bob,

I concur with the IC break in impressions. I currently have my CDP and pre to amplifier runs burned in already. Same goes for the speaker cables. I've been using them since last November. I'll be breaking in the IC's for my server and turntables in various systems in the house playing off the Sonos zone players 24/7. I'll just turn off the respective integrated amps while I'm doing this. That leaves the 7 Signature Power Cords which I believe will not take too long. PC's rarely need more than a few hours, a day or two at most with all that current. This should cut the time to about 3 weeks tops. The Power Cords go in today. I'll piggy back my impressions in the thread you started so we can keep 'em all in one place.

Jack, regarding power cord break-in time, when I got mine, initially for a pair of monoblock Spectrons, I anticipated fairly rapid break-in. Especially since the Spectrons are on all the time and at idling with no signal consume, per the manufacturer, around 40 watts each. However, I found that even with lots of listening time and having them constantly powered on, it took close to four weeks for them to get close to their long term qualities.

If you include all the time I spent sketching and saving up the scratch for it (and the house), oh, about 22 years?

Construction of the house took about 2 years. I had to slow down because steel prices were sky high thanks to China buying everything up in the region for the Beijing Olympics. If I recall correctly the room itself took about 2 months to fit out with the treatments. The only thing that took a long time was the Guilford fabric since my supplier in Michigan had problems with his export license at the time.

The system itself has been with me since 2008. The only changes are the addition of the Tentation, the server, cabling and the replacement of Critical Mass Grand Master amplifier standss with CMS Black Diamond PXKs. I'm still fine tuning the system. Since the pic shown, I've finally found an area rug I liked, I've recantered the painting support up front by a few degrees facing upwards towards the ceiling cloud and replaced the painting with another.

There's another photo shoot today this time for Philippine Airline's In Flight Magazine that wants to feature it. I'm a bit surprised about the mainstream interest in this room. That makes it one TV show and now the second magazine. I give credit to the Interior designers for that. While form strictly follows function here and Mike of Tracks Acoustics had the final say on everything, the interiors guys really pulled the look together with the choice of colors as well as with the lighting.

Very impressive Jack. Sounds like it really didn't take all the long once you had the wheels in motion.

Not to get too far off topic but how do you like the Tentation? We are hoping to have this piece at RMAF this year but I'm afraid to hear as I will then have to figure out how to get one for my system

In my experience with my CDP and DAC graveyard, it's the champ in many ways Bill. It's a strange little black box. It's so hard to describe how it sounds and what it does because it's walking all these fine lines. I wish this player had come out 10 years ago. I would have saved myself a lot of grief.

Jack, if a player at that level had been out 10 years ago, just imagine what would be available today

Good point Bill. The rate things are speeding up in the computer world I'm having a tough time imagining what 10 years will bring.

I wish I could Bill, but it looks like I'll be landing on the mainland in November for the Pacquiao - Marquez fight. I don't see how I can stretch my stay an entire month.
