Just bought an Ipad 2, 32 GB, WiFi only for my wife.  Curious to know if any of you Ipad users out there felt it necessary to pick up an extended warranty that also would cover accidents/spillage.  Square Trade comes to mind...

I am not a big fan of extended warranties as a rule but it seems that is something happens to the glass of an Ipad, it looks to pretty much be toast.

When I bought her an iPad for her birthday early last year, we decided to get the SquareTrade warranty on it, figuring that sooner or later one of us would drop it, or the cats would play hockey with it, etc.

Of course, none of those things have happened yet, but if they do I think we'll be glad we got the coverage, as Apple doesn't cover accidental damage, and it's not an "oh never mind, just buy another one" product given the price (at least not for us...you guys with the $100K systems might feel different about that issue...)

Yep... My daughter and I bought an IPad 2 for my wife as a Mothers Day gift, 16 gig wifi. There was no way I wouldn't purchase the extended warranty. I'm sure it will it will be a smart move now that beach season is here.

I buy a new computer every 2 years, and a new iPhone whenever a new one comes out.  I just bought an iPad 2.  No doubt that an iPad 3 will come out in the next 12-18 months and it'll be some must have device for me.  An extended Apple Care warranty?  Not for me.  More than likely, I'll be on a new device by the time I need it.

Actually, I now have changed my mind and am going to take the Ipad 2 back and get the Color Nook.  The Nook does everything my wife would want for a device like this.  Checking emails, browsing, e-reading.

I always buy these types of things with a credit card that automatically doubles the warranty.

If it dies after two year I consider the money I saved by not having purchased the extended warranty contribution to a newer faster better thing.
