I was asked for a recommendation and I have to admit I am not up to the latest information on record shops anymore.

I know Capital Audiofest (Rockville July 9 &10) will probably have someone selling used records.  I picked up a few good ones last year.

What are the best stores?

Ric posted this CD store a while back and said it is mostly vinyl now.

I have not had vinyl for a long time, but it is good to hear that there are stores around that have used stuff (CDs) too.  One of these years, I'll catch up on the backlog I seem to always have (I am done with upgrades except for a tweak for two for a bit or at least that is what I'm telling myself today ) and make a list of what I'm looking for a do a road trip.

I stopped in there a few months back, it was mostly CDs, with boxes of vinyl at end of each row.

I stopped in there after leaving Joe's Record Paradise in Silver Spring, a nice collection of vinyl, especially Jazz there.

I may stop in again either before or after CAF.

When in DC on business I have found good reasonably priced vinyl, new and used at Red Onion http://redonionrecordsandbooks.com/ ; Som Records http://somrecordsdc.com/ and Crooked Beat http://www.crookedbeat.com/ . If punk is your thing try Smash Records http://www.smashrecords.com/ . All are located in the Dupont/Adam Morgan neighborhoods.

I've bought vinyl at CD Cellar in Arlington, though the Falls Church location also has vinyl.  Decent selection, prices & generally condition of vinyl is pretty good.

If you're looking for really cheap vinyl, and a decent selection of classical, Second Story Books in Rockville now has a vinyl section. $50 to fill a box (100+ records).  Doesn't get much cheaper than that. Not so great for non-classical - lots of John Denver, 70-80's rejects, etc.
