In short...everything s better with a step up...
I thought that would overload and clip too. I'm not going to try it on the Jasmine with 70db gain on the MC side. Although at one time I was running a Dyna 10X5 into the MC section of the EE Mini Max phono because it sounded better.
I hesitated purchasing the SAE 1000 due to it long storage. I have had good and bad experiences with cartridges bought in the 80s. The good was the Van Den Hul lll (Goldring with VDH stylus). It been my favorite because it is so neutral. The bad was a Genisis 1000 which developed harshness over time. Complex passage were very distorted. Increasing the tracking force reduced the distortion somewhat but it still was unacceptable. I felt the SAE may be risky but the AC posts have been reassuring and I will try it.
anyone have a new LT for sale or know where to get one in the US?
This guy on Ebay has them for $325.http://myworld.ebay.com/williamthakker_com/?_trksid=p4340.l2559Over a $100 more. Still worth it, but a little hard to swallow.
William Thakker is in Germany. Vortrex, does it have to be a US seller?
Guys, pretty sure i'm sold on buying one of these but can only afford the elliptical version for now. Is that a bad choice, or is the comparison a few posts up accurate? In the past i've had a Grado Gold and AT440mla. Even though the AT tracked better & was more detailed, i liked the big bold musicality of a longhorn'd Gold.
