UL listed "cheater" plug:

Here is a plug, by its very nature and soulful purpose is to defeat the ground, and UL says that that's OK. They even gave it a listing number.
I'm afraid some of you don't know who, which one your talkin' about........
It is not UL Listed to be used as a ground cheater. It is designed and manufactured as a 3 wire to 2 wire adapter.
No, it is not UL listed for the use of lifting the safety equipment ground from a piece of equipment or appliance. It was designed by the original manufacture as a device for connecting a piece of equipment or appliance that has a 3 wire cord and plug to a 2 wire receptacle that is fastened to a metallic outlet box, which is connected to a metallic conduit that is electrically continuous all the way to the grounded metal enclosure of the electrical panel it is connected to.
The metal tab on the 3 wire female/plug adapter is connected to the equipment ground contact of the female receptacle. The metal ground tab is designed to connect to the 6/32 threaded hub of the wall duplex receptacle by the 6/32 cover plate trim screw.
The 6/32 threaded hub is connected to the metal yoke, the receptacle supporting back strap, of the duplex receptacle.
