Tape Lo0p
« on: 10 Jun 2011, 01:19 pm »
:( Both Tape in 1 & 2 are not working. Yet Tape Out 2 works fine steaming to my desktop computer. The setup is Tape In 1 = Teac X-3, Tape In 2 = desktop computer Asus STX. I was cut short from testing when a lightning storm forced my turning off the system. More tonight. :?

I guess what I'm wondering is if there is a fuse or such that I tripped with the tape deck being the first thing I noticed after disconncting and reconnecting the interconnects.

Tape out will work even with the unit switched off since it comes directly from the selector switch.

The first thing to check is the push button that selects source or tape.  It should be set to source.

It should only be set to tape if you are monitoring a recording with a dedicated playback head or using an external processor that you want to loop back through the pre-amp (e.g. an equalizer).

Do you use any other sources?  Do they work?

Dean

I did go thru the different switch modes from Source to Tape then tried Tape 1 then 2 for sound. As for other sources I have the tuner on at all times and start and end with it selected, which was working. I know about the tape loop steaming all but the phono with my T8+ turned off. The desktop computer monitors the system from Tape Out 2. Tonight I'll try the CD player on the Tape Inputs and hope I have wire problems. :icon_surprised: Thanks L :thumb:

Do you have the tape buffer option? Nothing will work when the preamp is off and it will affect downstream, connected components, like a tape deck.

Them ddarnn tapee lopps.

Thanks for your replies gents. :D Well since getting home to find my youngest asleep on the the listening/living room couch (headache) I have the preamp on and moved the tuner interconnects to both Tape inputs with no problems. Jazz is now pouring out of my desktop speaker system. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: WKCR plays great music. :)  The computer may have a sound out configuation issue. I will have to wait till later when I can power the amps up to hear. So for now I will try my laptop thru the interconnects used by the two non-playing sources.

Well the IC's work fine with my laptop. :thumb: Not the Teac or Desktop Asus Xonar Essence STX PCI-E pain in the ##s.  The Teac may be toast :o but I'll give it a look just for anything odd inside. (where's the spinning head smiley?)

My wife is asking what beer are you drinking tonight? You corrected the tape "Lopp" with a tape "Lo0p". That's pretty funny!
