Pangea Power Cords w Odyssey Amps
« on: 9 Jun 2011, 01:00 pm »
Hi everyone,

Per my other string over the the Path of Least Resistance, I'm in the market for low cost power cord replacement for my Mono Extremes.

Was wondering if any of you have tried the Pangea cords with your Odyssey amps?  Your impressions?

If not, are there any recommendations (nominally $100 / cord) for good quality cords that mate well with the Odyssey products?

One option would be Groneberg TS Premiums, but I suspect I cant afford it.  Plus I'm not sure the cable is actually designed for power, versus signal...but I really don't know.

I have 1m AC-9's on my mono extremes.  I mainly purchased them to have shorter power cables.

The sound change was minimal if even perceivable.   One thing I can state is that the sound certainly didn't worsen in any way.

The AC-9 is a thick cable and you need to take some caution with it's limited flexibility.  They are surprisingly flexible for a cable that is nearly 1" in diameter, but they still need room.  If you do get them, make sure the cable has no tight turns and can lay nicely.  I had some trouble with mine because the amps each sit directly in front of an outlet.  This proved to not work well.  The end connectors had a lot of pressure on them and the cables didn't want to stay tight on either end.  I've since added another outlet between the amps and the cables lay perfectly now.

I can only testify to the cords as my speakers are internally active.  I replaced factory supplied cords which weren't heavy gauge with Pangea 9's and got an increase in volume of space and dynamic life especially in the bass.  They are an all around winner for me.

As I have stated numerous times the Pangea offers quite a bang for the buck. However a comparison between Triode Wire Labs cords leave the Pangea in the dust. Yes a few more bucks. Every demo conducted in several systems proved positive. Presence, weight and clarity up the ying yang. Better focused bass with slam.
  Try one you never know.

The Triod Wire Labs look nice, but I can't afford them.  I'll need 4 cables: 2 for amps and 2 for my Martin Logans.  So >$1000 vs <$300.   :(

Haven't heard Rollo's cords and don't doubt him, but dang if he isn't describing my impressions over standard cords to my speakers.

hello ...
I bring you the fruit of my little tests, including power cables sector ...
Last year I bought a cable industry to a gentleman in belgique, which work well on the electronic and made good cables ...  :P
he gave me the cable, if I was satisfied how, I buy him.
is the cable on the 1st page photo attached.
I used it on my cd player, and the result is simply remarkable, and incomprehenssible for me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :o 8)
but it works as hell !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
alas I sold all my equipment with hi fi ...  :duh:
As I go again, and I bought a complete system I began to make similar cables
these days, waiting for Mr Klaus sent me my amps, I prepare cables, and a barrette sector ...

on the cd, it works great!!
for blocks, I can not say for now ...
I warmly receives them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cable used a Yarbo GY 7000 PW Furutech plugs are, but the little secret of success for
it "works well" is the length of the cable ...
2M50 ...
it feels great cable, but given the result obtained, it is not a problem ...  :nono:
for 100 euros, the gain is important, and it only matters to me ... and especially my ears !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do not want to tell stories, but just to give you a nice result, with this cable

here the link ...

BOBC no problems ... 8)
Me, I use the automatic translation of Google ...
but sometimes, it's a bit weird
for the look, I tried to do well, but it's not easy with the cable as big !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mainly lies in the gain on the sound performance!!
stratos blocks for my future, I'll do the same, but black jacket ... :P
anyway, the cables will be hidden

same, another problem that takes up more space behind the aircraft ... :x
There should be a little more room because we can not bend the tubes ... they are not flexible at all

on the link below, I have pictures of what I do until my new speakers and my amp, I put some acoustic foam.
and further, I put some photos of a bar area that I just made too ...
 nice photos ... :P

I'm using Signal Cable MagicPower on my Stratos and the Digital Reference from Signal on my Candela.

I'm not a power cord "hyper", never thought I could or would hear a difference.  Not sure if I do now but it certainly didn't change for the worse.  I do think it's better with these cables.
