The Vinyl Circle has one for record dealers, the Tube-O-Phile Circle has one for repair shops, we should have one for audio dealers - if they sell Planar Speakers, so much the better.

Here in Northern Virginia, I've always found Gifted Listener good to deal with.  They may not carry everything I like but they are honest.  They are a Maggie dealer as well.  For repairs, Music Technology (musictechnology.com) is great.  Bill Thalmann worked for Conrad Johnson for many years and is a superb technician.  Unless I had to, I would not take a repair anywhere else.  There are other good audio dealers as well in Northern Virginia.  I've not bought anything in IQ Audio Video but they seemed really nice, carried nice stuff and seemed to know their stuff as well.  Between the several audio dealers in the area (Deja Vu - believe they are a Quad dealer too, Evolution AV), we have choices for a wide variety of brands to suit all tastes.

Steve - as long as you're doing the road trip - there is JS Audio in Bethesda.  Have only been there a couple of times and not in a few years but they also carry nice stuff.  I like Bethesda.  I like going during the summer (been a couple of years) and they have some nice shops, restaurants, outdoor flea market, and then I usually end up at the Harp and Fiddle if I go on a Sunday.  The Mary Ann Redmond Band usually plays on Sunday Nights - I think www.marb.com

I cast a vote for Bruce Thigpen of Eminent Technology. I bought a pair of his LFT8B planars. He was appreciative of my business, very easy to deal with, and he always had only good things to say about his competitors and their products. He now has some dealers but you can still order online, I think. A real class act!!

Wrong coast from me but they know how to do something right:

Robert Harley, editor of The Absolute Sound, ranked Hi 5 Stereo's room, featuring the 3.7s and ARC electronics, as one of the 5 best-sounding rooms at the recent T.H.E. Show (Newport Beach, California).

http://www.avguide.com/blog/robert-harley-the-show-newport-beach-highlights

Best Sound
The Audio Salon: Spectral/Magico/MIT/ASC  $60,000 pr.
Brooks Berdan: VTL/Wilson/dCS/Grand Prix/Cardas  $27,900 pr.
E.A.R. USA: EAR/Townshend/Marten  $70,000 pr.
YG Acoustics/Kubala-Sosna  $49,000 pr.
Hi5 Stereo: Magnepan/ARC  $5,500 pr.

The Rocky Mountain Audio Fest and T.H.E. Show in Newport Beach show have gained the stature as the 2 best regional audio shows in the USA. Robert began his blog with---

"Of the 70 or so hi-fi shows I’ve attended around the world, I’d have to say that T.H.E. Show held at the Newport Beach Hilton June 3–5 was by far the best. What made this show so exceptional? For starters, audio enthusiasts arrived in huge numbers."
