Thanks Jack, good advice that I'll put to use. The SVS subs sit on top of (2) Auralex sub dudes and the LCR-15 and stand sits on top of another. The vibrations from those have been reduced a great deal from the sub dudes. The LCR-15 clarity for dialog has really benefit from this.
However, there is another important reason to lower the stage from the 9" down to say 2 or 3" above the floor. The main audio listening seat is directly on the floor, which puts the MKIIIs 10" higher with spike bars than that the listening position. It does not matter on some material, but there is clearly alot of material that goes over my head literally with that difference. I've added a couple of cushions to the seat and slouch a little less in the seat.

The improvement in detail and clarity come from the MKIIIs has been dramatic with that small change.
So, vertical seating position (especially in multi-level home theater rooms like mine) is as important as the horizontal location most people are concerned with.
