I do not have my utility bill handy, but i pay about $55 a month for electricity, with the bill being $70 in the peak Summer air conditioning months.
I have just a medium size apt. (660 sq ft)and heat and hot water is free (not electric) And have an average in wall 240V air conditioner
I DO leave my two channel stuff on 24/7. But i listen to music (now that I am retired) at least ten hours every day/365 a year.
So my Bryston 4B-SST2 amp, BP-26 preamp, VAC preamp, three CD players, an Adcom DAC, a TADAC dac,  a Behringer DEQ2496, and the Rudistor RPX-33 headphone amp, always on.

One crazy comment. (forgiveme)
I recently added a small 'tweak' to all my electrical A/Cplugs. And it really reduced my electrical usage about 3%
Teflon tape tweak: wrap each prong of A/C plugs with some plumbers thin white Teflon tape at the base of the prong, flat around the prong about three turns. cut. Use your fingernails to squeeze down the tape so it is only 1/3 of way up, and crumpled down around only thebottom third down.
(the plug/receptical will squeeze it down more if needed.)
I started doing this as a sort of tweak, supposed to make stuff sound better. Well i was using a meter and discovered ALL the sources plugged in with this tweak used less power.
Anywhere from 2% to 4% less juice.
Yeah it seems crazy.
But after I did every single plug in the place, including stove, A/C, frig etc, natually every one in my system two channel and video..  my electric bill is lower.
Go ahead.. laugh...
I am laughing too.
And I STILL think it is impossible.
Please, someone prove I am nuts, and just imagining it all.

OK.  I'll say it, CRAZY!

I find it almost impossible to see a 2-3% change in ones electrical bill without massive amount of data collection.

744 kw in April, averages 600-800 kw in winter, fall, and spring, then goes to 1200-1400 kw in the summer months.  I should be more frugal....

I've added a poll so you can vote for the space size.  It's a bit confusing without that but I didn't want to ask everyone to post their living space size.

This should take care of that so we get an idea.

July, Aug, and Sept, the highest being in July at 1917 KWH.
Lowest Feb, March, April, at around 579- 659 KWH.
Pretty reasonable cost here in the South. If I was still in Boston, forgetaboutit!!!!
2300 sq ft house outside Charlotte, NC.

I've got 3000 sq.ft. and we average 350-400 kWh per month.

Only because in San Clemente, AC or heaters are only used 3-4 days per year each.  :green:

I also live in San Clemente CA. Not sure about the KHh, but my my electric bill runs at least $225.00 or more a month.  Pool pump and heater is the main culprit at my place.

But hey it's worth it to live in the best climate in the world!!! :thumb:

Average 550 kWh per month*

*That is about $84/mo. PG&E just added our Smart Meter about 5 months ago, since my charges for both electric and gas has increased a bit.

I didn't see the poll earlier. it may be new, I am definitely below 1200 sq ft. estimate around 1000 sq ft. Single occupant duplex, with one newish compact window AC unit used 1-2 months (not in above billing cycles). SF Bay Area (Northern California)

We have a 2600 sq. ft. home in northern Delaware.  Electricity use ranges between 850 - 1750 kWH.  Higher during summer/early fall months due to AC use, we have natural gas for heat.  Looks like averaging across 12 months it's around 1350 kWH.

For the 12 monthly billing periods ending April 21, 2011, my household consumed a total of 15998 KWH. During this time period, we experienced 5272 Heating Degree Days (HDD) and 179 Cooling Degree Days (CDD). According to NOAA, normal / average climate values for my location are 4400 HDD and 379 CDD.

Our all electric home has 2373 Sq. ft. of conditioned space. A 3-ton air source heat pump provides our space heating and cooling.

I don't think my consumption is that bad: 1,500 KWh seems to be well within the range of a lot of the posts I'm seeing.

Factors: Extreme climate (Houston), combined with a fairly leaky (air, not water) house. All the windows frames need to be re-seated, etc.

The equipment is quite mild: Peachtree Nova being fed with a dish receiver, Oppo BDP-93, and an Apple Airport Express.

Looks like We used 1568kwh last month. Looking back, August hurt us at 3200kwh and we were at our greenest last may with 1290kwh.

I need to turn off the audio for a month and see what it does...  :o
