Off the top of my head, Accuton or Seas Excel come to mind for the mids, and the Millenium for the tweeter.

Been there and done that.

The Accuton is debatable and would depend on the implementation. I have used the Seas Excel drivers quite bit and would not put them over the drivers in the X-Statik. The metal frames tend to ring a little and the metal cones have a very unnatural sound to them. They sound artificial next to the X-Statik drivers and if not crossed over very steeply have a terrible ring to them.

I have also used the Millennium tweeter several times and really can't put it over the X-Statik tweeter in any way. And I like the way the rear wave is controlled better in the X-Statik tweeter. And I think the Fs is lower in the X-Statik tweeter too.

If you really want to see a step up over the X-Statik, then hang in there for the long awaited X-Optima and X-Otica. I have something special in the works.

Danny-

Since the X-otica and X-optima were the speakers I most looked forward to, can you give those of us interested in them a rough ETA on their completion, details, specs, etc? Will these be DIY kits?

Thanks.

Some really over the top level drivers are under development for these. Once the drivers have been approved then I will spill the beans on it all.

I know. But I don't get it. Is there going to be GR Research "X" label stuff?

I already sell all of the X series models as kits. See my sticky at the top of my circle.

But why aren't they on the website alongside your other kits, especially if you are introducing new "X" models?

Just wondering.

It's stated in sticky as Danny mentioned.  t's very generous of Danny to do this.  GR Research manufacturers and sells its own drivers.  I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Danny makes a lot more selling his product than he does selling these kits.

So Santiago and I have agreed to a deal that will allow all of the X-series inventory to be sent here to GR Research. I am now blowing them out as kits and at prices that will make them fly out the doors.
The faster they sell the faster I can send funds to Santiago and his family, so prices are really low for fast sales/quote]

Yeah, if you look at those prices for those kits then it is real obvious that I am not making much on them. http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=90911.0

As soon as I get caught up on my design work then I will start working on getting them up on the web site.

Any updates to this?  Are the beans ready to be spilled?

Will you debut them at RMAF? I may fly for the show, specially if you will have the Super V.

There are a couple of new things that might show up at RMAF this year. We'll see.

As a fall back I may have some really tricked out Super-V's with Granite sides.  :green:

Super V with granite? That will be awesome--at least aesthetically.
