It's come time to upgrade my setup - original Icon with PSU upgrade and S-1's fed from a Macbook Pro.
I'm considering some Quad 12L active speakers (

Google searches mainly return using the HDP with active speakers and I'm wondering why the uDAC2 is not recommended for this task? Is the preamp output of the HDP a whole lot better than the uDAC2?
