Question on the A/V-1C
« on: 21 Mar 2011, 12:12 am »
Question for Danny or anyone else who might know. Is the A/V-1C kit just a single speaker or a pair? It seems to read as if it is a single but the "Whats in the box photo" seems to represent it as a pair. Thanks R.K.

It's a center channel so yes, it's ONE speaker.  The AV-1 is what you would want if you want a stereo pair.  I'd say that Danny just used the same picture for both of them.

I had the N1X and it's pretty awesome...wonder how it compares.

Yep, it is a single shielded one to be used as a center channel.

Same woofer and similar sound, but the Neo tweeter takes it up a notch.

Thanks Guys, Looking to build 2 monitors and a center. The monitors will have to be rather small as well as the center are the A/V-1 monitors and the A/V-3S center very compatible w/ each other? Thanks R.K.

 No way man, doesnt hurt a bit!  Nay, Ive run my own custom cabinet shop for over 20yrs and the straight razor part comes from the ability to design something in my head likeing what Ive designed and before construction starts ive carved it up and changed it a thousand times :duh: but it always seems to serve me well in the long run. Keeps the creative juices flowing. :thumb:

But to anwser your question, it will be for a new build. When I designed my house( back to the straight razors again ) I designed the den, dineing room and kitchen on an open floor plan which doesnt work well w/ a surround sound system. So a few yrs ago I finished this entertainment unit for the den

and the only choice I have for any kind of sound here is if I place the Monitors on the shelf directly over TV which the AV's should work great here and naturaly center will go in the center. I know it not the greatest set up but its what Ive got to deal w/ now. Adding a sub is no prob and Ive  have lots of areas to hide it.

It's too bad that pictures don't do it justice.  I've seen this piece in person.

Thanks Jason, your to kind. One more question, am I right in thinking that I can change the exterior of the speaker enclouser as long as I dont change the interior or ports? R.K.

I know EXACTLY what you're saying. I spend a lot more time designing a new creation than I do building it.

I've got a lot of new stuff planned and can't wait until I have the time to actually make it a reality. :hyper:

Got a pic of the layout?

Thanks,

EDIT: added a word that I accidentally left out.

You do not want to change the height or width of the baffle.

Changing the surface area around the front baffle changes the response. I'd keep the frontal area the same and air space the same.

Very Nice Fred! Did you ever figure out just how many hours you had in them? Probably more than you care to remember.  :green: If you do find the thread post it , looks very interesting. R.K.

Looks like your room might be conducive to open baffle?
