Hey guys...I've started to gather some nice tunes from HD tracks in FLAC format...I currently have Squeezeserver using my itunes folder for music how do I get it to scan the HD Tracks folder also...do I setup another source?? Right now my library is labeled VAIO (my laptop brand) and I want to get my DUET to play these new files and find them with ipeng as I currently do with it seeing my itunes folder...a Duet can play back FLAC files right? itunes cannot? so how do you guys separate your music, maybe its time for me to go 100% to my Media Monkey GOLD- library and forget itunes??
 Thoughts??

A Duet can play FLAC.

There are smarter guys than I to explain how to put shortcuts within a folder to direct the SqueezeStuff to look in multiple places on a harddrive for your tunes.
Myself, I have a dedicated area on an external harddrive that holds all the tunes. This way, I can tell it to only look in that one place for all the tunes. Within that folder, are sub folders, and folders within those subfolders, and so on.

Clear as mud?

Your Duet will not play tunes through Media Monkey, or any other software that doesn't use the word "Squeeze".

Bob...I got ya...so I'll redirect squeezeserver to look at my "My Music" file and cut and paste my HDTRACKS folder into it and like you said I'll have a subfolder...I think that will work.

I keep my HDTracks FLAC files in a directory that is not with iTunes.

The directory can then be put in the squeezeserver list.  You need to rescan for SS to find the files.

After that, I play them with my Duet without any issues.

Listening to the new Yardbirds HDTracks FLAC download now!

BINGO...BINGO !!!!

Yea, A fella could get fancy with "redirects", but for common folk like us, it's just easier to put all your eggs in one basket.

"Cut and paste", or "highlight, click and drag". Whichever one works.

Bob

p.s. What HAL said....You will have to [rescan for new or changed music].

Got it...I'm using the default or "leave this blank if you want to use itunes" selection so I'll just put a directory in there and rescan...

I have a USB 1 TB Seagate Drive that I currently use as a backup for my music and stuff..should I just have the SS look at that set of files or would a USB attached drive be slow and glitchy??

I use an external 1.5TB  WD USB drive elusively for my SS, and it works like a charm. Never a minutes problem.
On it, I've got the tunes and a few other things. All the garbage is located there, but I've only told the SS to look for FLAC, WAV, MP3. The rest of the stuff is simply ignored by SS.

As an aside, I've got an old SATA drive with a USB "toaster" to use as my back up.

No problems with using my USB2 HD and my Netbook for music playback.

Success!! I cleared out "My Music" folder and put in HD Tracks folder within it and had Squeezeserver clear and rescan with it now looking at that one folder "My Music" and it found everything and ipeng is now setup in folder view so its working and it sounds excellent. I've been listening to these tracks at my computer with Fiio E5 headphone amp and cans but now I have more options-I love options- and I'm listening to the new HD Tracks offering of the Jan Garbarek group concert in Dresden with Manu Katche on drums-my latest fav drummer- sounds excellent...thanks guys!!!
