Hi Ericus Rex and all Audio Circle members.
I did not see on TC Tubes website anything for the EL84/6BQ5 and
they told me that they don't want to suggest anything until they can see what's wrong with the tubes.
That means it will/might take several months before the tubes reach them.
(End of July)
I will ask them for a full credit,
but I don't think they will give it to me until they have
the Toshiba tubes on hands.
In the mean time, I will enjoy as much as possible my EH tubes,
because I don't want to make the same mistake, even with NOS tubes.
Even if an Audio Circle member is using a brand/model and highly recommend what he's using, I have been burnt, therefore, I'm scared even with cold water.
If you understand what I mean.

UP DATE !
Hi Ericus Rex and all Audio Circle members.
I just got an e-mail from Mrs. Chelsea from TC Tubes
and she will send me a matched pair of Genalex Gold Lion N709/EL84
for the same price I paid for the Toshiba,
that's really nice of her,
since the Gold Lion are more expensive.
I think she will send the Gold Lion tubes to my wife's aunt in Chicago
before my wife's aunt leaves for Vietnam on April 1st
and before receiving from me the Toshiba tubes and even
if Mrs. Shelsea wait to get back the Toshiba,
I will still get the Gold Lion tubes
that are more expensive than the Toshiba.
That's really extraordinary after sales service.
That's rare these days, when suppliers only think
about making as much money as possible.
I am looking forward to see/hear if the Gold Lion
are better sounding than my existing Electro Harmonix.
I don't want to be pesimistic,
but I think they should sound the same as my EH
or a little better. I am not expecting a huge improvement.

I knew they'd treat you right, Guy.  I would still like to know what the problem with the Toshiba's was...if you ever find out.

Hi Ericus Rex.
I don't know the cause of the problem,
but I can tell you exactly what it was doing or not doing.
At different times, I had several listening session with the 6BQ5 Toshiba tubes.
First:
Toshiba vs Electro Harmonix for the same output dB
with the Toshiba I had to set my volume control to maximum
compared to 1/3 with the EH.
Second: The Toshiba had no hight and mids,
it's like you had a thick blanket over the speakers
and I am not exaggerating.
My non audiophile wife can confirm,
if you are brave enough to ask her.
So that the best I can do to tell toy what the Toshiba was not doing.
I think many will agree that the EH are a middle range tubes,
sound quality wise.
But, even if the EH are not the best of the best, they are good.
With my set up, I have impressed an American guy (Living near by)
that is a drum player and a recording technician.
He said that the combo Decware (EH) + Omega was very clear and natural.
Even my wife agrees and she as listen to all the systems
I have owned in the past 18 years.
If you don't believe me again, ask my wife, if you dare.
If my explanations are still not to your liking,
ask more questions, that's what I am paid for...
What ever that means.

Guy,   think  what  Eric was asking  is  " if , after you return the tubes to TC,  you hear back  from them telling you what was wrong,  please let us know"...  I'd also be curious to know what they day.

Also,    how expensive would it be to just pop  the Toshibas in the mail to return them to TC  ?   Woul be a pretty small, light box   .   I've had quite a bit sent from   overseas ( England, China etc) and it is never very much,  is Vietnam really that expensive to ship some tubes from ?   Just curious

Hi Jay and all Audio Circle members.
I`ve already asked Mrs. Chelsea to share with me her findings
on the problem with the Toshiba tubes.
I am very curious to know what she will tell me, because,
I did not dream that problem, it's real.
Sending back two little tubes is not that expensive
via Air mail, about 15 USD without a tracking number.
Via EMS (Express Mail Service) with tracking number,
it's about 25 USD.
Via my wife's aunt, it's free.
Since my wife won a huge amount of money at the lottery, maybe I can convince her to loan me some money to send back the tubes.
I will start no later than today the long and difficult negotiations with her.

Guy 13

I wanted to use my wife's aunt to return the tubes to TC Tubes,
because I am a broke cheap skate.
But now, with all those unexpected $ $ $, that change the whole thing.

Hi Jay and all Audio Circle members.
Thanks a lot.
That's the nicest compliment I can get.
If I try to be funny (Most of the time) it's because it's so depressing living in Vietnam.
If I did not have a good sense of humor,
I would probably be hanging at the end of a rope by now.

By the way, don't wish me Happy Birthday,
February the 13th
because it will remind me that I am 66 years old
and I hate that. :x

Hi Jay and all Audio Circle members.
First:
This morning I went to the post office
and to my surprise, returning the two Toshiba tubs to TC Tubes
set me back of only 234,000 Dollars, yes, 234,000 dollars, Vietnamese dollars of course, which translate in real money to 11 USD.
So the tubes are on their way to USA.
They should reach their destination in about 15 to 20 days.
In the mean time, I have ordered from Mrs. Chelsea one RCA 6AS7G (37$)
and one RCA 12AU7 (27$) clear top.
The above will set me back by about 64 USD and
of course I will get the Gold Lion EL84 change to change with the Toshiba.
O.K. one more thing that I don't have to woprry about.
Done.

Shutter speed from 1/60 sec. to several seconds.
F stop F 8 to F16.
ISO 1600
On some pictures, I have use a far away ceiling lamp to give some light.
For my IKEA audio system support, I have undeneat a strip of small LED.
That's it, enjoy and feast your eyes.

The earliest Mullard E88CC with milky ring on top,Date code 7L1 R1D1.
To me,these are the best sounding E88CC  !!!!!

do you think 7L1 code mullard e88cc sounds better than 7L0 code mullard e88cc? :icon_surprised:

Hi adrianc ,from Egypt? Dangerous place :D.I mean mullard made R code e88cc.Many people thought mullard 7L0 R8? OR 7L0 R9?(made in 1958,1959) are better than mullar 7L1 code e88cc.
