Am I seeing that correctly, the amps and speakers are plugged into jacks on the floor?

Floor AC outlets Bob. The speakers have built in powered subs.   :)

Jack,

Thanks much for sharing your tubes with us.  I remember seeing your updates in the Von Schweikert circle on having this room installed,  Beautiful, just beautiful.  IIRC, you are in the Philippines?  Hope you and yours are OK after the typhoon.

Could you please share a bit more info on those amps?  T1610s in push-pull?  How many watts are they making?  And what are the amps in behind them?  TIA.

sebrof,

Thanks for that nice tube glow shot, I just love shots like that.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

The amps are KR Kronzilla DX2s. They are the Single Ended Parallel version and put out 100wpc. There is a push pull version called the DXL that does 150wpc. The amps behind them are KR VA 910s using Reflektor KT120s and they put out 160wpc. Both have identical input sensitivity at 1v making them easy to use together. The SETs handle the midrange module, the PPs the midbass and the built in switch mode amps the deep stuff. Sort of a best of all worlds frankenstein thing going. LOL. This system is down though because of water damage to the floors from the flooding we had some months ago so I am now living with my secondary set up in the bedroom.

The super storm hit down south and we were spared this time around. Normally, our island is the one that takes the beating. My countrymen down south are truly suffering and being archipelagic it is very difficult to transport the supplies wha they need. This time of year, the ocean is very rough so we can't go beach to beach and are limited to the few places on the islands with ports with deep enough water for big boats. It is very sad indeed as these provinces are not used to getting battered by storms much less a monster like the last one. Things are progressing but much more slowly than anybody would want. I saw some footage earlier today on TV. It was horrible but I saw more than one victim smiling. I'll take anything positive at this point even a couple of smiles.

Very sorry to hear you home suffered damage.  That is just not fun at any level.

I've been watching and reading the news and it has been extra difficult to get relief to the stricken areas.  All the folks in the Philippines have my sympathy and support.

Pass this on for me if you get the chance... :)  I'll back that up with a contribution to the storm relief.

It is  :D It's how my partners and I fund the hobby without our wives going berzerk

This room is situated in my basement, however. Can't afford the rent for a showroom this size outside, not without branching into HT to pay that rent which we don't really want to do. The commercial showroom has the smaller stuff. We're more distributors than we are dealers in any case and supply 4 other stores.

I'm a bit of a latecomer to tubes having gotten into tubes only in the early 2000s. I haven't looked back since. While I'm no hoarder, I have a decent stash of AX7s, AU7s, AT7s and 6dj8s. Used to have a small stash of 6sn7s and some rectifiers. Other tube amps are 6c33, BAT and Lamm. I've had 300B and 2a3 amps in the past too. I still own an AudioNote clone (300B parallel).

I blame my Vintage loving friends for my addiction!  :thumb:

Read this valve forum some one said the four version of Metal base GZ34 sounds no different, are they worth the price when compare to the normal base version
Actually they are 5 version of Metal Base gz34.
1st) 52 RSB,53 RSB,54 RSB.Single disc getter,metal brackets under top mica,no holes on plate.gray bottom mica.
2nd)55 RSB. twin D getter, metal brackets under top mica,no holes on plate, transparent bottom mica.
3rd) 6M MNA Single disc getter, No metal brackets under top mica,no holes on plate, gray bottom mica
4th) TV1 56H twin D getters,metal brackets under top mica,holes on plates,transparent bottom mica.
5th TV2 57E twin D getters,No metal brackets under top mica,transparent bottom mica.

I don't have the Third version and just guess they were made between 55,56, from their construction.
I did compare the four versions few years ago and eventually use the Mullard Fat Base F31 as my reference.
