You dont see it everyday:
You think the double triode 6C33 is a big tube(yeah), so this image is the 6C42C tube, a 6C33 descendant, it is a Triple Triode tube with output impedance of 65 ohms, restrict to military custumers.

I will quote myself> I was told today by a Russian tube expert that all Rusky military tubes are avaliable to civilian custumers.  :thumb:

I like it a lot. It's a very well built preamp. I do plan on replacing the four center multicaps.
I noticed today that they are by-passed with caps underneath the board, Looks like maybe Multicap-RTX's.
The only caps that I have found to fit the space available are the V-cap OIMP's as you PM'ed me.
CJ is going to email me a semantic and instructions on removing and replacing those caps.
Hopefully there's an easier way other then de-soldering all the wire in the rear of the circuit board.
I'll let you know after I hear from him.

However, I'm not sure yet if it out preforms my mod-ed audio research LS7.

I can't help but wonder if you like the dehavilland better.
I will never use the balanced inputs or outputs.

Wirenut,
Yes, I like the deHavilland better.
It has a warmer sound, it's more three dimensional and has better detail retrieval but the SF isn't going anywhere, either.
I do a lot of CD burning so need a tape loop which the deHavilland doesn't offer.
That cap upgrade should do good things for that preamp.

P.S.
I think that the SF is closer to what was actually recorded and the deHavilland smoothes over the warts.
I'm listening to a really poor reissue of a PJ Harvey album which is brand new.  It sounds like it was dragged down the road on the Sonic Frontiers, it sounds marginal on the deHavilland.
