The bent mica points on the outer edge of the top mica are quite intentional and proper. They provide a tight fit for the mount (the stuff between the top and bottom mica) and the glass. If they weren't bent they might not touch and things would rattle around.

Also note the little raised hook on the top mica that holds down the cathode. That reduces microphonics. These tubes look perfect.

l don't think the shape of the getter makes any difference in the sound. The tube manufacturer just buys them from the getter guy. However it may help identify a particular vintage of manufacture as the getter guy does not always have the same stuff and sometimes he has new, better stuff.  From my studies it appears that D getters came before round "halo" getters which are an improvement as they distribute the getter material more uniformly. Perhaps that is why they were invented. Why D getters are preferred is a mystery to me. They don't do nearly as good a job as halo getters.

Hi Roger, I will be very surprise if you had compare  valves with different getter and found they sounds no difference,I wish my ears are the same as yours so I can have more time to do something else rather than searching valves

I'm using two Brimar in my Cat Ultimate and two Mullard B5B and one Bugleboy 12ax7 in the power amp
When using the Matisse I put two Mullard B5B and also two B5B and one Brimar ECC83 in the power amp
The Cat have a excellent sound stage and fast and powerful bass,with lot of low level details resolution  and excellent separation,tonal balance is a bit dry.
The Matisse sounds more round and forward,image is a bit large and less resolution even I substituted two Mullard f91 B7I which I think have the best low level detail of the Mullard square getter family.the best part of the Matisse is the mid range which sounds warm and relax and have more chest resonance,more like valve emotion

Put these quad GEC in the Leak and sensed a burning smell  as the stickers and tubes are brand new and when the tubes gets hot and melt the stickers,shouldn't happen on used valves I think.

Other than more power,
what are the other advantages of using those monster tubes ???
...and for the same price, may I ask how much power you get from those tubes?
Are they SET ?
May I know, if not a military secret,
by how much one tube will make you poorer ?

I've seen quite of few of those tubes here on planet Vietnam.
The Vietnamese audiophile like those tubes, because it impress
the audiophile friends...
By the way, your rack must be under great stress with
that monster of amplifier on his back.
