My understanding was that there was also to be a USB port which would open up a whole other world of connectivity.Bryan
Other then lighter and thinner I'm not so sure that any of the other stuff will temp to purchase another one.
I think most folks will wait a year, but i will still order one for hand-me-down reasons.
here is an early review:http://www.flixxy.com/ipad-2-review.htm
I'm thinking more like an emitter for remote control purposes. They make one for the proprietary port but you're limited to one brand whereas USB offers a lot of options.
Nowhere near enough improvement/new functionality to have me even consider upgrading.George
The Dock Connector to USB Port (dongle) is sold as a solution to upload pictures and video to the iPad, nothing more.. (or not much more) It's been found to work with USB DACs and certain USB Thumb drives.. The iPad doesn't provide the user with the concept of "disk storage" like a computer would, so even though it's capable of doing more, it's up to an "APP" to provide it. There are Dock Connectors that have IR repeaters available and there's even a few other. If you want "storage" there is an iDisk app for those that are Mobileme users and dropbox also has an app. It's not additional storage but more or less a way to sync to a Mac and PC.The Dock connector To USB Cable: allows you to charge via the 10W USB power adapter and sync with your Mac or PC. Sadly USB ports don't provide 10W so a computer won't be able to charge the iPad.So there are two key different products here. The cable and power adapter comes with the iPad, the dongle is an extra item sold by Apple.
The front-facing phone completely changes the value equation for me. Assuming that that means I can use it as a videophone.
