Visaton or Saba Green Cone

Hello,

Seems like i could use the advice of this forum right now...

I currently have a Visaton (w/ phase plug) and 2x Eminence Alpha 15A set-up that i enjoy. But i have recently thought about building an alnico Saba Green Cone woofer/tweeter open baffle instead of the Visatons.

My question is, does this seem like a step sideways in driver quality? Would one be any better/worse or just different?

I have a small place and could only have the one set up at any time; also, i would want to make the Eminence drivers fit with the Saba woofers to keep costs reasonable.

Please any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I've had both and had much better luck with the Visatons (asssuming you're talking about the B200's?). The Saba's cones I had were apparently worn thin and at higher volumes would resonate like a kazoo (exaggeration but still). The B200's were nice and new and sturdy, and just sounded much better.
Basically if you go for Saba's try to make sure they aren't used up/worn out.

I too have had both and thought that the Sabas were more of a downwards move than a sideways one. Mine were in good condition, certainly not kazoo-like. I have a large room and the Sabas didn't seem up to it, but they may do better in a smaller space.
If you want to improve your B200s (assuming that's what you have) I would recommend experimenting with the B&G Neo3 tweeter.

thanks for the responses. i think I'm will pass on the Sabas and maybe try building a new baffle for these woofers as my new project.
