Maybe a Stupid Question
« on: 11 Jan 2011, 02:31 am »
I have my 2 7BSST2 linked to my Pioneer Elite using rca cables mainly for blu-ray concerts in stereo. Could I also hook up the 7B's to a BP26P using xlr for phono also?? Does one diable the other when in use?

looks like the S is missing to me.
Fullvolume, are you asking if you can use rca's and XlR's at the same time and do they disable
each other out.
I believe I read somewhere on here that you can use both XLR and RCA(out of the amps),not 100% sure on that.

Yes that is the question. Basically using 2 preamps. 2 7BSST2 + BP26P(xlr) + Pioneer Elite SC07(rca).

Fullvolume,
You can hook up both the single ended (RCA) and balanced (XLR) inputs on the 7BSST2; however, you will have to use the switch on the back of the 7BSST2 to select which input you want to use.  Both inputs are not active at the same time.

I guess you can also run the Pioneer Elite pre-outs into the preamp loop?

I agree with Tony

See the manual for 7Bsst page 2

1. Input Select Switch.
Each SST channel gives the user the option of switching between either balanced input or single ended input.

2. Balanced Input connector. ( Imp. 20k )
This input connector accepts standard ‘XLR’ or 1/4” TRS .
Use quality, 100% shielded cables with gold plated connectors.

3. Single Ended Input. ( Un-balanced input ) ( Imp. 50k )
This input connector accepts standard ‘RCA’ or ‘Phono’ connectors.
Use quality, 100% shielded cables with gold plated connectors.
Balanced input Vs Single ended input:The balanced input requires a balanced pre-amp source. Balanced systems provide noise rejection from externalelectrical interference, so cable length can be very long ( 50m or longer ).The single ended or unbalanced input is provided for pre-amps without balanced output. Single-ended cables should be kept to 20’ (7m) or less. In general never use longer cables than necessary, never coil excess cable length, and keep signal wires away from AC power or speaker cables.

If the BP26P has an HT Bypass mode.

This is an old diagram but you can follow the input and output.  The preamp (BAT VK-30) has HT Bypass.
You can also substitute RCA since I have a fully balanced connection from input to ouput.  :thumb:

I guess you can also run the Pioneer Elite pre-outs into the preamp loop?

You can but make sure the pioneer gear is turned off and switch over to xlr in the back of the 7B's. This will avoid any noise through possible ground issues. That would be about your only issue is noise.
