These headphones are reference quality with a beautiful midrange and grain free top end. The speed and attack is unrivaled in this price range for a dynamic headphone in my experience.

I have personally owned the Sennheiser HD650, Sennheiser HD600, AKG K701, AKG K340, Grado HF-1, Sony SA-5000, and Beyerdynamic DT990. The Audio Technicas defeated all of them handily.     

The ATH-AD2000 are also very hard to come by in the US. They are only available from Japanese and Hong Kong distributors.

My pair is in like new condition. I cannot find any damage to the frame and the pads are clean and in excellent shape.
