B-100 dead in one channel, solved.
« on: 8 Jan 2011, 12:10 am »
Hmm, my B-100 went dead in the right channel, same on all sources, same problem listening on headphones, any internal fuses that might have blown in this one?
Sorry, what is going on here? I took the mains cable out, put it back and turned the amp on, and its working again.

niels,

by 'main cables' do you mean the power cable?
if so then this story sounds weird. well, maybe this one goes to the Hifi gremlins we all have to deal with now and then ?!?

best,

Sometimes electronic equipment "locks up" and ceases to work.  Unplugging it from the power source for one half minute or so allows the capacitors to bleed off and everything "resets".  It happens with audio equipment, computers, modems, cable boxes, etc.  "Hi-Fi Gremlins" is a good term -- unplugging for 30 seconds should be in owner's manuals as a first troubleshooting step.

Yes, power cable.
i had an electrician in house earlier that day, and the power was cut and turned back on, in the evening the b-100 was dead in one channel. taking the power cable out and putting it back in solved it, but I could feel droplets of sweat running down my forehead for a minute there....
