Best solution for playing iTunes (Apple Lossless) on uPNP client?

My music is stored in iTunes (Apple Lossless) and with iPods, it is probably going to stay in the iTunes library.

However, I really want to be able to "see/play" the music with a uPnP client...

What are some solutions that would allow me to make the MacMini/iTunes library look like a uPNP data store?

I am aware of eyeConnect... is this the best choice? are there other options?

Thanks.

In order for your library to be uPnp compatible, or seen by a dlna device, it needs to be stored on a true network share/drive and you need to pick a compatible format (MP3 or WAV; ALAC won't work).

Running eyeConnect does some magical things on the Mac -- it turns the Mac iTunes library into a uPnP library and decodes ALAC on-the-fly... Link:  http://www.elgato.com/elgato/na/mainmenu/products/software/EyeConnect.en.html

There are a few other programs like this out there... just looking for the one with the best performance and least headaches.

Thanks.

and decodes ALAC on-the-fly...

Into what though?  16/44.1 PCM?

From what I understand, EyeConnect transcodes (on-the-fly) the ALAC files to WAV.

Right now, I have ripped my CD collection to my iTunes library -- so, 16/44.1 is just fine.

[I don't expect this to a long-term solution, high-resolution files will change things... I just want a stable solution today].
