Ok, I'll be the first to admit this is not "THE" definitive list but it is KXCI's list as determined by over 100 volunteer DJ's and frequency of airplay over the past year.

The count down goes from from 7am to 6pm on Friday, Dec. 31st. Follow the progress here on the on-air blog.

From the first 20 listed I recognize 2 names.  Two others are???

Guess I was lliving in a parallel (non-intersecting) universe.

I recognize 5 out of the 20 - I guess I'm halfway between reality and that parallel universe

Added another 10 to the list.

Yes, it is an eclectic list. Even though I listen to KXCI every day while working I don't recognize some of the artists. The DJ's range in age from teenagers to music lovers in their mid-sixties so what is played during the week can be extremely varied. The station receives 1000's of new albums every years, each DJ gets a stack to listen to and can play whatever they like. If it's good then other DJ's pick up on the artist and it can go into the heavy rotation shelf.

The music resumes in 1 hour after Democracy Now.

thanks for the list.  Explains a few things:

1.  I have bought a lot of new music this year - I have 14 so far
2.  I need to check on KXCI - think I have before but their quality of broadcast was poor
3.  why my friends come over and look at the thousands of cds and shake their heads wondering how anyone can have so many cds and have no music they know - you know Fleetwood Mac, U2, Clapton

Best of New Year everyone.

The last 8 albums have been added. I have only 1 album from the list - Robert Plant's Band of Joy, but because I listen to KXCI while I work it is like I have all the albums on a random play list.

Explore the music on the list, there are some real gems in there. Local singer/song writers Leila Lopez (#18) and Namoli Brennet (#24) are a couple of musicians you really should check out, they are excellent.

Personally, I think Robert Plant's CD is way better than Ray Lamontagne's.  Rolling Stone's top 20 album list is completely different from the list here.

I've heard or own 56 of the top 100, and I thought I listened to a lot of different musical genres but I guess I need to broaden my horizons.  :guitar: :drums: :violin: :banana piano:
