Wash Ave Loft - need room treatment advice
« on: 13 Dec 2010, 03:16 am »
I'm about to move downtown to a Wash Ave loft. The LR area is huge, and its a typical timber loft bldg w/poured concrete floors.

I have a set of Room Tunes, but i don't think the kit is geared for a huge space. The LR area is probably 800sf w/18' ceilings.

Are there preferred audio/video firms in the area or anyone who specializes in taming room acoustics?  I'd be looking to get some sound transmission work done to a party wall, and overall absorption & tuning for a simple 2 channel set up.

Any assistance is provided

I need to sell 4 Altec Stonehenge I speakers.  They have teak on all four sides and the top, connections on the bottom, weigh 75# each.  Great for large rooms.  :)

Bo is right, these Stonehenges would be positively Paleolithically perfect in such a space.  8)

Thanks for the responses guys!

I moved back to the area last July, still getting settled.

I work on the E. side in O'Fallon & have been living nearby...rejoined my mom's real estate firm & haven't had a chance to shop much for a home until recently.  Plus, the market is hopefully at its lowest, or darn close to it.   :o

Hi and welcome back....dont know if this would help you in any way, but there is a new high end audio shop that opened up downtown on Washington ave called St. Louis Stereo. They are by appointment only so be sure to give them a call as Im sure they can help you with all your audio needs. Heres the website.

Great first post Mr. Slippers!
Looks like a great place for a "GAS Field Trip".  :thumb:

Matt, Are you the same "matt c" from Chicago that was on the Hawthorne site for a while?

Anyway, Welcome back to STL Matt, and a big welcome to Slippers to AudioCircle, and to the GAS Circle.
