I got a similar heatsink with a chip and switch mounted on it with my kit, is this what you guys are talking about?

Yes, that is your voltage regulator with the switch to toggle between 12V and 6V tubes.

almost ready to fire it up for the first time.  I was missing a 499k 1 watt resistor which I am going to locally source tonight. Dodd apologized for leaving it out of the kit, need to go to parts store any way

I hit another snag.

I noticed the wires were in a different order (from the drawing on the doddbufferkit web sight) on one of the connectors
In the upper left corner the black and white wires are reversed. I confirmed this with Gary
Its easily fixed but just wanted to let others to be careful and check before powering it up

I have the same issue. How do you disengage the wires to switch them around?

OOPS! :( Sorry guy's I guess I really did need more coffee!
It's very easy to remove the wires. On the side of the connector with the little slots in it you will see the pin thru the slot. At the end of the connector where the wire inserts there is a small tab, push it down just a tiny bit while pulling on the wire. It will come right out easily and you just plug it into the right position.
The pics on the web site are correct! :thumb: Note: The orange wire has been changed to brown.

I checked and Gary had enough coffee when he built mine for the kit I received.  Wired correctly here on the big module!  :thumb:

Now that I got all the bluemeanies out of the way I should be able to do a quick wire up and take a listen.  Have not decided on case work yet.  If I like the sound and keep this, I probably hand build a wood case but with an unheated wood shop it might be awhile. Its cold in Baltimore

Is this deal still available?
How does the "group buy" work?

Thanks.

My plug was wired like the above. I caught the 2 swapped flying Leeds but missed the 3 twisted wires to the large module and I fear it may be damaged. Could someone verify that the correct order, From the top.
Brown, Black, white, then the 3 twisted

Black, White, Brown

Then could someone measure the voltage at those last 3 pins, to ground, with it connected to the tube module  and turned on.

Thanks...John

I'd be curios to know. Like you I corrected the individual wires that were reversed but not the twisted wires. Mine are connected just like yours, and I've been running my buffer for a couple of months with it in that configuration!

Maybe Trung can straighten us out.

Should be fine if your wiring just like the picture.

Hi,

I talked to Gary when this topic was brought up. I asked him specifically about the twisted bundle orientation as mine had a swap also. He said the ones going to the module should be fine. Hope that helps.
