Ahh-so many choices.    I hope this little kitchen setup doesn't approach on the trials and errors like my main system.  I think it would be helpful in todays world for manufactures to put together systems for those who need decisions made for them.  This would be great for beginners as well.

I recently heard a Nakamichi Soundspace 5 system while on vacation and was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality.

I have been looking for a place that I could use one in my home  :duh:.

There are usually a few on ebay and if you get one in very good condition you may find the package you are looking for at a very reasonable price.

Just another affordable option with really nice sound in a small package.

I own and highly recommend Sunfire CRM-2's. A very small package and absolutely astonishing sound reproduction! A subwoofer is required though. here is a review:

Acoustic Energy makes a small desktop system (sub-sat) that has served well in my wife's office system.

Why is this topic under Trading Post > For Sale: Speakers & Speaker Stands ?

I wondered why I hadn't seen this thread until this AM, thanks Server Administrator.
Anyway, some good choices so far, here's some more options, I was going to post just this one:

NHT Super Zero 2.0 - http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=NHTSZ20

And then also noticed this one at AV as well, the bigger brother S30 got some nice reviews.

Cambridge Audio S20 - http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=CAS20

I love my Ascend Acoustics CBM-170s: ascendacoustics.com, but I don't know if they would work for you.

A micro speaker that looks interesting (somehow tiny with deep bass and fairly efficient) would be TBI Majestic Diamond IR: http://www.tbisound.com/dsp_products_monitors_d1r.asp

Another favorite is the Usher S-520:  http://usheraudiousa.com/products/loudspeakers/usher-series/s-520-shielded

Note that few small speakers would be "happy" (play with any dynamic life) from a 2A3 amp.

these might blow the budget - even used, expect to pay $1k or a bit more - but you will be hard pressed to beat the sound of proac tablette 8 reference signatures.  put them in your main rig with some actively crossed over subwoofers, and they will rival mega-bucks speaker set-ups, imo...

I too own a pair of CRM-2s and cant recomend them more. If space is of the essence these sound as much like full floor standers as you will find. Quite simply put they are amazing. They were desinged in a seven year prossess to provide pinpoint imaging and wile finiky to set up, when properly done they will not dissapoint.
