Jim, have you ever experimented with putting the silver name plates on the plinth instead of the speaker?  It varies by finish/veneer, but I personally think some of the more exotic veneers (such as these and mine) would look better without the name plate on them.  Another thing to try would be a black name plate possibly with silver writing.

Just curious.

I like the idea of moving the name plate, but Jim's current name plates are too tall for the plinths.  Maybe machining an angled bevel into the top of the plinth in front of the speaker cabinet would work.  I think that would look fantastic.

Just a thought...

Playing with paint.  the copper color isn't coppery enough, but i think it gives you an idea.

We haven't played with any applications of the nameplate other than the present usage.  We did consider anodizing them in black, but then we would have to inventory two styles.  I am not a metal expert, but black with copper would probably require anodizing black and then machining.  I'd have to check into the feasibility of doing this.

All good ideas and worth considering.

How about including 1) the customer's name on the name plate or 2) give the speakers custom serial numbers or 3) list the veneer?  I have a few pistols with custom serial numbers, but I don't know if any custom audio houses provide custom name plates. I would have liked something custom for my speakers, not that they aren't already custom.  Could sell new faceplates to subsequent buyers or swap for generic faceplates.

I love these speakers, BTW.

Klaus at Odyssey signs the amps with the customer's name in gold craft pen of some sort on gloss black stick-on plates.  Nice touch, low cost.

I agree this is a nice touch.  That is until you buy them used like I did and you have some other guy's name on them...
