Amp for Unifield 2 (High n Mid Channel)
« on: 3 Nov 2010, 06:44 am »
Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a amp for my Unifield 2's High n Mid Channel, which means I'm going to bi-amp. Any recommendation.

My current setup is: Source to Audio Research LS26 pre and output thru Pass Lab X350.5 and to Unifield 2

Will like to get more fluid and sweeter High n Mid, therefore thinking of bi-amping. Presently there's a option for me, a First Watt F5, any comments? Will I have a problem with the gain difference?

Cheers :D

Hello Earlgrey,

Bi-amping is possible but why do you want this?
When your room is not that big you can easily get more fluid by using a KR tube amp.
Look and listen to the link below.
This KR VA 340 is a 25 watt KR 300B amplifier driving the Uni II.
The soundtrack is a CD played by the system and recorded by a set of AKG 300b condenser microphones connected to the camera.

The problem you expect with bi-amping is the match between both amps.
You also can go for a KR VA 320 on top and the pass on the botom.
You can always tune your gain of the LS26 into your system.

Good Luck,

Cor

Reason is that I really like the low freq produce by 350.5, I don't know if my LS26 can adjust individual input gain so that's part of my worry..

You only have adjust the LS 26 output to match the both amps.
