I guess the oldest piece I actually use in my Sansui TU-717 tuner which I had modded. I think my Koss Pro 4AAA headphones are a bit older but I'm not much of a headphone user and I have not taken either pair out in years. I also have a couple of Carver C-9 Sonic Hologram units, one in the main system and one in the basement system. They are probably a few years after the Sansui as are the LD players.

The JBL L88 speakers I bought on July 7, 1972 for $168 each. The JBL's are still used daily in my woodshop.

I wrote to JBL about converting the L88's to L100's and received a reply in June of '73. I finally got the cash together and bought a couple of LE5-2 JBL mid-range drivers for $56 each at the beginning of 1975. I did the modifications at the beginning of my fine woodworking career so the results are a bit crude but they sound great and I always keep the grills on. The original L88 driver layout had to be changed so I could fit in a sealed particleboard enclosure for the mid-range driver. The cabinet sides have been braced and the original caps replaced with Solen. One of these days I want to tryout the L100 crossover designed by Dennis Murphy.

My sister threw one of those in the trash along with the matching amp, deck, turntable and a very nice pair of speakers - for no other reason than because it was 'old'.

I have a Dynaco FM-1 that was subsequently modified (improved) with an after-the-fact FMX-3 multiplex board.
It was released in the early 60's so I suppose that this is my oldest piece of equipment, out-dating perhaps even my Dynaco ST-70.

The FM-1 cum FM-3 has since been rebuilt, but sports most of its original parts including all of its priceless Dynaco branded Telefunken and Mullard tubes.

For what its worth, apart from the fact that it does not have the best station selectivity it way outperforms 99% of the modern tuners available today.

I've got a number of vintage pieces I use in various systems around the 'ole homestead.

I use the Pioneer SF850 (1976) as my active crossover in my main system

Also in the main system I use a pair of 15" Altec 416Z drivers as my woofers (early 60's)

I use the AR ES1 with a Grace 707 fitted with the Grace F9e (say 1982ish) with

...a pair of reboxed Klipsch Cornwalls (early 60's dating on the drivers). We call them the Cornzillas

I've got a vintage system setup in one of our our spare bedrooms. It's a Scott 299D, a Dual 1229 with a Sure V15 and a pair of Large Advents complete with zipcord and plastic interconnects.

I also use a pair of JBL 4410s (1983) in my wood shop

...and last but not least, my dedicated 78 system. The tweed amp is a Stromberg Carlson 420 (1952ish) which drives an Altec 824 Iconic (1954) and the table is a Dual 1019 (1965).
