As good as it gets, what amp and speakers would you mate it with? Also, a pre-amp of this quality needs a very good source.

Hi Dave,
I'm currrently using an AVA 550EXR to run the front mains which are Aerial LR5. The Pre/Pro is and Aragon Stage 1. So what I'm looking for is a way to marry fist class 2 channel with HT.
I also have an AVA T-7 EXR but am not really happy with the HT bypass, and, welll, I can't live withpiut a remote
The source is a stock Sony 7700 and I will be getting a P3A with Modwright level 2. Ridge Street Cables all around.

There is an X1 available on Audiogon, it's an older model but the price is right.

Thanks,
Bill

I just got done doing a home trial of a Pass X-1 with my Audio Research 100.2 amp and Magnepan 1.6's.  Compared to my Audio Research LS16, the Pass sounded great.  Both pieces are extremely neutral, however the dynamics of the Pass was incredible.  It threw a huge sound stage with lots of depth.  Something I didn't think a SS preamp could do.  The bass extension was also excellent.  I don't think you would be disapointed.  I posted a similar question in Audiogon and received a couple of favorable replys also.  If you are looking for a place to purchase, my local dealer Audio Video Logic in Des Moines has them for $3199 (new).  You can AVL on Audiogon, or at their website: audiovideologic.com.  They are great people.

Bill,

I also own an AVA T7 (until somebody buys it from me) and feel that it has been bettered by the MiniMax and Placette Passive in my system.

I am about to audition an X2.5 and I bought a Bent NOH.

I will keep you posted on my progress.
