Rich - No new ground being broken on this outing, just good, solid playing by the musicians. If you're a Brubeck/Mulligan fan then this is worth a listen, if not, nothing lost by passing on it.

I've brought a lot of new Jazz vinyl home in last year and trying to work my way through it, many things get a listen then shelved, but I'm going to put this on again before the game, I need to listen to side 2 closer.

Yeah, that's a great album. I haven't heard it in a long time.

Dawson was one of the greatest jazz drummers, without question the greatest drum teacher of all time, and a great mentor to all the young musicians in Boston for 3 decades. He had quit music and was attending electronics school to feed his young family when Brubeck called him to replace Morello. I heard the two of them play together again for the last time when Brubeck attended Dawson's tribute dinner hosted by Boston Jazz Society around ~1990.

A nice clean '65 reissue of the '61 offering. Pulled it out of PREX in last few years but not sure when. Sounds nice, this is an interesting ensemble.
