Hi JD,They're very tempting. I bought one of the 3 albums plus deals and thought the sound quality was ok but not remaster quality. I may try another one just to increase my sample size before I pass judgement. Thanks,Mike
Mike - I'd think they are worth a sampling, and if there is a particular album you find you want, but aren't happy with the quality of the one in the set try one of the individual releases. I've got 2 Kind of Blue CD releases, and of course the initial is really rough. The second, a remaster was better, and I know they've taken that release at least another one or two remasters farther since. Improving with each version. So I think these remasters are relatively good, but given the cost I'm sure they aren't the best versions available. I think I've only seen one negative comment at azon, and that was specific to one disc in a set. There are also system factors to consider. I've got a solid system(s), good, but not great, based primarily on AVA & Salk. My room(s) isn't very good configuration-wise, so my critical listening and yours could vary widely in that/those area(s) alone. Anyway, keep us posted on your thoughts if you do sample them. I know some other folks here have various sets, and so far haven't seen any really negative comments. I'd agree they aren't the definitive versions available, but they've all been a major step up from the sound quality of the initial KOB release, and maybe a touch better than the 1st remaster release on that. I'll try to schedule some time and do a comparison on the dupes I have and let you know what I hear. Happy listening, and hope this helps a little.JD
